hi speedy

with the sound of it you have a series 1

the switch on the side is to put into test mode for checking faults/codes etc

somebody on here will tell you what to do i nessecary

as for the seals/stickers that sounds the same as mine

original from the factory

Sounds like it could be m8 :D

ive just taken the back off the ecu the main chip that you normally change is plastered in lots of yellow sealer!

doesnt look like all the other soldered chips!!

is this good or bad news?

Can you get a pic?

not very easily mate,

can get digi camera and try sort it out!

do you no of any picture i can compare it with?

is the chip in a socket or soldered directly to the board? socketed = modified!

(unless someone has put a standard map chip back in a modified socket!! )

THERE NO SOCKET JUST CHIP INTO BOARD! BUT AS I UNDERSTAND IT THIS IS HOW MINES FIT THERE CHIPS!

EG NO SOCKET AND LOTS OF GOO!

ok, they very well may do. my chip had no "goo" on it, so that may or may not be good then!! :D

I also have a "Mine's" ECU .. have never looked inside, but if there's a plaque (small, coppery colour), then yes, that's deffo a Mine's ECU.

That should mean that you've got a non-standard fuel map, and in *theory*, it should be good for 1 bar of boost.

I would be extremely cautious that you're not getting any detting, though, if you are going to upgrade the boost with this chip fitted. Having said that, it should be OK to do so, AFAIK.

CheerZ,

JB. :D

Speedy, MINES is one of the best Chips you can get , cost new £600-£800 I have one aswell and you MUST run this on optimax as this is set up to use 100 RON fuel , I have been happily running 14-15.5 psi on mine with out any probs at all

Mines always cover the chip in goo to stop it being swapped / pulled for analysis. Real PITA!

if i an get camera working ill post some pics to confirm!

if i can get goo off i can fit socket, so i can interchange, mines-SE jwt and jd mod chips to my hearts content!!!!

should i stick with mines if goo wont budge??? :hyper:

I doubt you'll get it off. It looks like epoxy potting compound, don't think there's any chance you'll be able to remove it without damaging the ECU.

If you do want to change, buy a 2nd hand ECU (AndyZ) then socket that one.

Does your car have a speed limiter and the revs when u change gears are a little bit above the red line?

I KNOW THAT WHEN IM FULL THROTTLE THE BOOST NEEDLE HITS THE END OF THE GAUGE!

That's the same for all of us mate :) What about speed ever pass the 180-190km range if u have a jap import?
