hi all i was removing my headlamps today to give em a good clean inside & out and after removing the glass and trim from inside a small packet with 4 orange tablets fell out WTF are these and do i put em back in or bin em

These are moisture absorbtion materials placed there in the factory to keep condensation from forming on the inside of the light housing. I would expect that after 10 odd years or so that they have lost their ability to absorb so you may as well chuck them in the bin!

Regards,

flush em and don't answer the door to any strange folk with a sniffer dog

smash 'em up and snort 'em.

smash them up put them in a u100 inject them into your dogs arse and see what happens

Dont dump em - put em in the oven and dry em out and put them back in again. Silica gel can be re used many times.

How did you get the lenses apart? I tried and gave up for fear of smashing the glass. I was attempting to heat up the sealant with a hairdryer

Or put them in the Microwave, that's what I did once when I fixed the double glazing in my mothers house. Hope the people who bought that house aren't reading this, lol.

to remove the glass i left the lamp in front of a butane heater at work untill nice and warm then run a stanley blade around to cut as much of the sealent as you can then carfully prise apart :) ,take your time though when prising it off

Hairdryer doesn't really get hot enough - you need one of those hot air guns.

Need to be careful about geting the molten sealant on your hands too - it chuffin' hurts !!
