ooops...Took the Zed into RC Developments on saturday (just!) and they reckons the head gaskets done in.....bugger.... Hmmm..engine out....turbo's off.....oooo got that upgrade feeling again.....

What? to replace head gasketts you need to take your engine out?

hmmm, apparently so to do a decent job. They'll get the head skimmed etc..

There is no reason to take the engine out to replace the gasket or skim the head. Check it out with them first, there may be something else you dont know about or they are taking the piss.

The Nissan dealer in Leeds told me exactly the same so I took it to Johnny at Grasshopper who took me over to Hiteq for another look. Turned out to be a faulty radiator cap which they gave me for free.

Nissan wanted ยฃ1800 for an engine out job!

Does this make you feel like getting a second opinion?

I think so!

nah, the rad cap's a new one from Johnny. I'll problably go for RC developments, as it looks like the work will be done under warranty (thanks god!). So while the engines out I might ask them to plonk on some sport 450's or something like that. I've already ordered the under drive pulleys.

Anyone got uprated turbos? what recommendations. Also do I need to uprate the injectors etc. I'll be getting an avr and afc as a matter of course.

Go for big turbos is all i can say, I want bigger turbos ie tdo6 or so.

plus 555 injectors should do the trick, and they come from nismo

Don't go too big on turbo's unless your having the engine rebuilt to a fairly high strong spec, my engine is there now and my new ball bearing spool up turbo's, check em out, tell clive smithy said it was okay, had my block copper ringed whilst it was there so as to avoid any future possible blown gaskets.Simon Norris of Norris designs can do fantastic prices on injectors, but personally unless you get a programable chip that works under 2000 rpm as well, car can run a bit lumpy, our ECU runs a closed circuit upto this level and bigger injectors need mapping.
