My Fairlady TT is running erratically .The engine nearly stalls then recovers alternately. I have just fitted a new rad ,new heater matrix and a second hand airflow sensor .The car is undrivable and i live in the outback here in Pwllheli. All the garages are stumped.Could anybody tell me what the pinouts are and their readings of the ECU.Any help would be much appreciated

Also check the ECU Water temperature sensor. If that is not working or connected properly, the car will really struggle to start and when it does you cant take the foot off the accelerator because it will stall.

The idle is also very very rough and even though it is firing on all cylinders it doesnt feel like it is.

The ECU temp sensor is the one in the front radiator pipe at the front of the car. The one with the yellow plug. That the plug off and give the contacts a good clean.

Another vote for water temp sensor here!

However... is it hesitating through the range? If so might be a flaky second-hand AFM you've got there!

Me and Stu a while back were thinking what would be in the "Get your Z back to normal again kit"...

TEMP SENSOR & HARNESS

PTU

AFM

COIL & INJECTOR CONNECTORS.

9 times out of 10 it seems to be one of these things! :D

THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP,I OWE YOU GUYS.

I HAD THE FOLLOWING DONE TWO WEEKS AGO.

COILS ,INJECTORS & SENSORS REWIRED (S.E. NISSAN SUPPLIED SECOND HAND )

NEW RADIATOR FITTED.

NEW HEATER MATRIX FITTED.

NEW WARM UP REGULATOR & TEMP SENSOR.

SECOND HAND AIR FLOW SENSOR FITTED (S.E. NISSAN S

UPPLIED.)

WHO IS THE BEST SUPPLIER OF T.T.FAIRLADY NEW PARTS?

Check the TPS mate. The easiest way is simply to disconnect it. The car won't run as well obviously but if the problem goes away, the TPS is the problem so buy a new one.

Did they supply a new harness with that temp sensor? All very well having a new sensor but if the wiring to it is naff then you will still get a fault.

I usually get my parts from Courtesy Nissan in Texas or you have MJP in this country or Jeff at Z World has quite a bit on the shelf these days too. All are excellent and cheaper than Nissan Main Dealer.

Thank you for your help.

I have spoken to the mechanic about all of your replies. He assures me that all the sensors etc. have been checked .He suspects a break in the wiring somewhere. To isolate the problem he needs the pinouts info plus their readings of the E.C.U.How can i get this information?

I'm praying hard here.

HOw can they say the wiring to the temp sensor is OK and then say there maybe a knick in the loom?

If you get your car connected to a ConZult it will show you the reading the sensors are sending.

THANKS VIJAY AND EVERYBODY

Dear Srrae,

What Is A Conzult?

Pull the plug on the TPS mate. I've suggested it already and it's a 30 second job. The worse that can happen is it will confirm that the TPS is not broken. The best that can happen is you'll have found your fault.

Give it a go and let us know the result. This is exactly the sort of problem caused by a bust TPS.

Thank Very Much For All Your Help. I Have Decided To Send The Car To Jeff At Z World

Hi mate

Have you tried pulling the plug on the TPS???? Could save you a lot of money. Just unplug it and drive the car around. If the cutting out disappears, all you need to do is buy a new one, unscrew a couple of screws and put the new one on. Cheap and simple. Very very very simple. If you want someone could take a photo of where it is and what to disconnect. I would but the engine's in my garage so it wouldn't be of much use!
