Hello to all,

I am looking for some help please guys. I smacked up my car (see thread: kerb monster) on Monday 29 December 2003. My car has been taken to a garage to be fixed, and they initially have stated they will not write off the car, as it is fixable.

Today I have received a call from my insurers engineer's dept. who inform me the garage where my car has been taken is not skilled enough to fix my car. "Do I know anyone who can do this?"

They are looking to offer me cash to fix the car, but I need to get the car delivered to someone with the facilities and know-how to do this. I would obviously like to do this as locally to me as possible. (Hemel Hempstead junc 8 on M1)

Estimated damage: Near rear wheel smashed - all relevant suspension gone too, Rear axle and diff will need replacing as well I have been advised.

Is there anyone out there, who can or knows someone who can do this for me? As this has gone on for so long, I'm getting a bit desperate, as this is my only transport, and the insurance company want the courtesy car back like yesterday!!

Thanks for looking,

Simon.

Simon,

Iwould tell them you don't, see if they will write it off, pay you market value, and then buy back the car as salvage. Then get it fixed!! You should end up quids in!!

Sorry if that was off topic, jut my devious mind, why don't you try the guy Gio just used, he looked pretty good??

Thanks for the reply Paul.

Having spoken with the engineer who has had the garage's report, he said he didn't think the cost was going to be that close.(ie to write off value). I'm hoping when I can get an educated value then maybe your suggestion may be explored.

Simon:D :D

not skilled enough to fix it????? WTF???

i had a similar accident with mine, had to replace o/s/r suspension components, diff & subframe were fine on mine, i think it would be very unlucky to need a new diff

i done all the mechanical work myself on mine (through my garage) & our bodyshop done the body repairs.

i cant for the life of me work out why any garage doesnt have the skill to replace a few suspension components, 4 wheel alignment will have to be done - no big deal.

unless they think it needs jigging??

The guy I used (GB Vehicles in Lincolnshire) is a body shop so don't think could do Simon's damage.

If Zedworld can't fit you in, try Dan Perkins Slough 01753 538444 or Steve Sherwin at Lucas Garage (01753) 520403.

Good luck, mate
