The car heater matrix is a very inefficient way to remove heat from the coolant when you compare it to the car's main radiator, etc. If you can get that much cooling from the matrix, it would suggest your main cooling system isn't being used or is under utilised.

The pump must be good as you can get cooling through the matrix. Thermostat perhaps?

Thank but it was fine untill i went to brands, it would sit for hours and the clock would read between 80-90 but now i can watch the clock go up as soon as i stop, it has got a mod rad on it but i just dont know what to do next.

The water temp is ok its the oil temp that is going up

Is the Rad Cap Ok? Sometimes when they leak they cause over heating.

First try the cheap bits, get a new rad cap for about a tenner, and check for air locks in the system, see if that fixes it.Dont forget that most leaks/water losses only happen under load, so you get no drops on the drive, or on tickover but when your driving down the road the water can be pouring out. It might be worth getting someone to rev it up while you look under the bonnet for leaks (but dont get your fingers in the fan!!!!).

Good luck.

Doesn't sound excessive to me. Does anyone else have an oil temp guage?

yes but it has allways ran at 80-90 it was only when i cooked the oil at Brands Hatch, that it has gone upto 120deg on tick over

Maybe you should change the oil - since it cooked at Brands Hatch as it may have lost it's effectiveness. And then see how it is?

Geoff.

Change the oil Garry!

You might have broken it down by the strain of racing the engine and now it has lost some of its lubricating abilities!

You should always change your oil before and after the track days!

Sorry Gary after reading your post again I see you have done an oil change.

I'm certainly a bit thick today!!!

Hi Garry

It's me Chrissyp, We bumped in to you in Enfield just before Christmas, Me and me girl that is. Think she must have frightened the life out of you. We were in the Transit going on to the A10.

Back to your problem, 1, do you think that you could have been running a good quality synthetic oil, that would have run cooler. 2, your oil cooler may have sludged up, try flushing it out. 3, did you replace the oil filter with the oil. 4, one of the oil lines may have got crimped or twisted when refitting the filter..

If you still have the problem, give me a shout and I'll take a look.I'm only 10mins up the road..

Hi mate hope u had a good new year

i have changed the oil i got full synthetic 10-60 i was told by st albans that was the best oil how do i flush the oil rad out the oil filter i could not get one so they put the same one back on give me a call if u can 01707 876498

Thanks

Ugh - you have the same filter? Its probably blocked up. Change it ASAP - get one from Nissan - or Halfords do a Champion one or at a push one of there own makes - but change it now - I think you will have to change your oil again to be safe.

Flush the engins with Wynns ENGINE FLUSH from Halfords - though you can find that in most places. I find thats quite good.

Its complete lunacy to change engine oil and not change the filter, as a) you are restricting the oil flow through the clogged up filter and b) you will contaminate the nice new oil straight away.

Any Synthetic 10w xx oil is fine Some people use Castrol Magnatec as well.

Who put the same filter back on, you or a garage:confused: if when you have changed the filter and followed all of above and its back to normal, cut the old filter open to see whats in there, hopefully just a thick sludge due to the oil cooking, best check.Tony
