Custom Exhaust

I can get a custom exhaust made up for minimal cost. However not being one for a silly loud exhaust do I need to put some form of back boxes in to reduce the noise ? has anyone got a straight through ( Cat Back ) on their car ? How loud is it ?

 

What diameter should I run from cat back ?

 

Lastly, I undersand the Jap import has some form of 'choker' ???? in the exhaust, what is it, where is it, should I remove it and how do I if I should ?

    probably any of the guys making stainless systems will build one for u for cash saving the VAT, maybee a pain in the arse as the guy will make it like on a saturday afternoon, but thats worth a try to keep the cost down.
