Hi guys I need help.

I have an intermittent fault shorting my interior lamps. It causes the luggage and cabin lamp to come on. I have tried disconnecting both doors and the tail lock wire feeds, which has had no effect. I've now traced the relay beside the rear seat, and disconnected that but I still have the same problem. I've tried to find the fuse box (to the right of the driver's footwell) without success, and it's now p*ssing me right off.

I have a remote alarm with my locks rendered useless with a key. If the lights are stuck on I'm unable to set the alarm and lock the car. I have to jump back in and cruise around until it goes off, and gingerly return to park, hoping not to nudge it on again.

Anyone have any ideas,

Simon

Sounds like you are earthing the lishts out at a switch (i.e. door pin or boot pin) or the wire itself.

The cabin lights and boot light both have a constant live connected to them and only light up when they are earthed.

Have a look at the manual in the FAQs at the top of this screen, and it should give you some sot of trouble shooting guide to work from.

When did this start happening and what did you have fitted around the same time or shortly before ?.

May be a problem with the alarm

Why not just whip the bulbs out until it gets warmer then you can trace down the wiring.

on most alarms there are different setting for the installer to program in for the internal lights, they have timed outputs for cars with comfort lighting and duration timers?

It seems strange that you have to drive round for a minute or two to turn them of?

the doors are on the same circuit as the boot and don't reqiure an additional wire from the alarm.

your bonnet sensor is seperate, do your lights come on when the bonnet is open?

hope this helps a little mate

Still struggling. Tried removing the luggage bulb, and switching the cabin light off. Stops them flickering but still effects the alarm for some reason. The warning light is coming on in the dashboard.

Not fitted anything new recently, however am having my doubts about the alarm. The auto closure has stopped working, so now I have to make sure the windows are shut before I leave. Not a problem in this weather.:D

Driving around doesn't always work. It's just a question of being able to park up when they're not activated. Tried opening and shutting doors, which occasionally works and so makes me think it's a short somewhere. Otherwise all lights work normally as they should.

Thanks for the help so far but if anyone has a brainwave please share it.:( :(

I've been told its a CAT 1 toad alarm. Frightens felines and amphibians. I have no paperwork on it though, so will have to try and inspect it sometime tomorrow.

strange this,, I seem to have a very similar problem, mines a toad cat one alarm, not total enclosure but its just packed up on the central locking side and now the interior lights dont work atall. I get a solenoid type noise near the door pillar on the drivers side sometimes and the door open lights come on, if I flick the interior light switch It goes off or dims depending how it feels. OH and the side repeaters dont flash when I set the alarm now either.

I think Ill call out the alarm installers as they guarentee the alarm for life. Ill let you know how I get on......confused? I am!!!!
