i know some of you will raise your eyebrows in disgust, but i want to get flames out of my 300zx. Its a non-turbo, jap spec. I have been told that simply de-catting will solve this problem, is this right?

I was also told that jap cars generally over fuel, thus making them easier to flame.

Thanks for any help -

You'll need a couple of spark plugs in you tail pipes to get descent flamage. Saw a TT with such a setup at an Ace Cafe meet. Nearly took my eyebrows off!

Virtual Reality Bodystyling do a flamer kit whcih utilises a butane gas tank in the boot with a spark plug and a couple of buttons on the dash...

check out their Flamer Kit page for more

Give up to 16ft flames :)

Just love to hear the reaction when you tell your insurer:)

You want to make flames come out?

You fitted a butane tank with an ignition system?

You piped laughing gas into the car?

Your a great risk!

Quote you happy:) sure!

LOL well if you even consider declaring something like that to your insurer you should be locked up in a rubber room :D

Chopper - if you d fit these, pop by mine near Exeter, I've got some crumpets need toasting. :D

Could sound dodgy that, but I assure you it's not. :slap:

put some turbos on it. :)

Please dont lower the 300ZX to such a level.

Look at the type of car in those picutres. For starters the car with the flames is a MR2 with a stupid wing, and its parted next to a modded Corsa. Need I say more?

Perhaps i wasnt clear enough! I dont want to go the way of the flamer kit! Drilling holes in my exhaust and shovin two spark plugs in is not my idea of fun! I just want to get them naturally, by popping the gas whilst decelerating, that sort of thing!

Thanks for the link though! ;)

Hi Chopper,

By simply decatting your car you will not get flames. You need to overfuel by using a chip or AFC.

Macca's actually flamed now and again due to this AFC.

If you want a proper flame then you need to got for the flamer kit. I believe you can get coloured gas for this as well.

You may want to extent your zorst as well or you risk burning your bumper off.

Not my cup of tea personally, but each to their own no matter what car you drive. I mean I've got neons FFS LOL .

Getting licks of flames out of the exhaust is a combination of a lot of things. Very hot exhaust and over fueling, not just by ECU but by larger injectors too.

I have had flames out of mine a few times when it was mostly stock.

Alternatively if you do it and DON'T declare it you'll be locked up by the nice man with a pointy hat, because your insurance will be invalid.

yeah yeah yeah, this could happen and that could happen, all if's and buts.

Not offended by this thread as well i hope!

Mate come to the HERTS MEET next Sunday - and we can have a BBQ!!!

Have some flaming fun, lol.

Geoff.

Nice one.

Geoff.

oh, and my 300zx apparently spits out blue flames from both exahusts when really gunning it from 2nd to 3rd, so says a friend who was following me anyway!

vent to atmosphere dump valves result in massive overfuelling on zed due to them using a MAS rather than a MAP so you get flames occasionally with a combo of straight through decatted exhaust and BOV's.

edit - while we're on this topic dont go on the search for flaming if you still have cats! The cat element runs REALLY hot and if unburnt fuel gets into them it will ignite and melt the cat, resulting in this kind of thing

which will block the exhaust.
