Right guys, Im trying to get insured for an import Z TT. Im 33 - 5years NCB, no points. Driveway at night. no accidents blah de blah

How come all the people are telling me its gonna be at least £810

Surely there are some companies out there who will insure imports for less. If I cant find a good quote soon Im gonna have to bite the bullet, pay extra and get a UK model.

I cant afford to do classic insurance as you need another car and limited mileage.

Tesco want bloody trackers fitted along with CAT 1 alarms.

Adrian Flux want an extra £350 a year if the car has a bodykit and different wheels.

Im seriously thinking of getting a UK spec one, its just the imports seem to have more mods done to them

I went with Tescos (by far the cheapest for me) and told them I'd get a tracker fitted as soon as I could afford it.

They said Ok but you aren't covered for theft til you do. Got a tracker fitted by Bob@S&S a few months later and sent the certificate to Tescos, sorted. :)

There are a few import friendly companies linked on AndyP's site http://www.300zx.org.uk

Cheers Pete, what sort of prices are you paying for insurances?

how much did the tracker cost ya? Do you have to subscribe yearly at another cost?

We need an insurance sticky thread!

I'm 31, full ncb, got 2nd car, £270 with Norton. (they are on the net)

I'm 23, 2y NCB, nice postcode, parked on driveway £1300

Tracker was £265 for the base model but that was part of a group buy. Yearly subs is just over £100

EDIT: oh yeah - its a second car, low mileage etc

I tried Norton. Basically its a limited mileage second car policy. does not acrue any NCB or lose any either. Pretty rigid terms too.

I am curious James300, how it was so cheap, is yours a UK model, no mods ? Are you over 60 or something ?

When I phoned them I was quoted £750. I'm 29, 10yrs NCB, 3pts ( guess what for !) garaged, nice post code. Driven Lotus, TVR's and Z's in the past too.

Mine is an import TT with Tein suspension and 18's. Other than that as standard as it comes.

The other car I have is Lexus 300 sport and cant insure that for anything sensible without NCB.

I paid less than £600 for 90TT manual UK car whni was 22 !

So much for it getting cheaper when you get older !!!!

No, I'm 31, the Z is Jap and pretty modded. Limited mileage and 2nd car, garaged. I think they have a certain policy for if you are 30 or over? That may have been LIFESURE, I can't remember now.

I didn't have another car when I got the quote but soon got a runaround, that the savings almost paid for. I was paying about £750 before with Budget.

I'm 30, four years NCB, 3 points, J-spec modded, 2nd car for daily driver. Clifford Concept 600.

Privilege are the best I could find at well over a grand, and I have tried every company mentioned on here in the last three months...

I live in respectable semi-ville, does that usually push insurance up or down? Loads of Porsches and BMWs parked in the same cul-de-sac and no-one's had a car nicked in nigh on 5 years.

One interesting thing I did find recently is that Norton would insure it modded and garaged, or unmodded and on the drive, but not both...
