I was having major trouble keeping z on the road while accelerating due to a lack of traction, i have today stuck a set of goodyear F1s on to the rear, only managed to get my foot down once on the way back, overtaking in 3rd, it seemed to grip??? and it was wet!!,( normally it would fishtail even in fourth on same stretch)anyone else got these tyres ?

cheers pete, thats quite refreshing, i will give it a good toasting tomorrow to see what the difference is, i kept the original tyres as they still had decent tread (just in case), i love going sideways but have had to react v quick, on a number of inopertune moments, whilst overtaking in straight line in the wet, and in the dry!! with the old kumho tyres on, and as they say power is nothing without control !!

Hi, I got continentals on mine front & rear.

To me they are ok.

well im not impressed, it let go in 3rd gear straight road but wet, maybe i was expecting too much eh? is this why people get traction control??

I had continentals when i bought car, it would wiggle all over the place even on dry road.

Got Bridgestones now - no more wiggle.

Surely any tyre is gonna let go if u push it too hard in the wet, especialy on shiny tarmac.

I've got the goodyears too....

.....dead good, even in the wet. They live up to Evo's claim that they are the best performance tyres ever:)

I used to use Michellin Pilot Sport on my Supra and they were good, but the F1s are a different class.

Driving home the other night on a flooded dual carriageway I could still accelerate past other cars at high speed and there was no loss of traction.

I can also boot it off roundabouts in the wet and the back end stays in line.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Get a Subaru then :D

SMW1 has eagle F1's I can testify they stick like shit to a sheeps back,

Defo going to get some when the new wheels come :)

im running on 19 inch rims with Khumo somethings on them

very loose at the back ( and i have been too as a result of it ) especially if the front wheels are not in the straight ahead position ....how much do the F1's cost a corner ,roughly

steve

I had F1s on the front 225/50x16 for £90 each all in.

Couldnt get them for the rear cuss there was a supply shortage ( back in july) so had Bridgestone so2's 245/45x16 for £75 each - bargain!

I kno i wont be popular but i think they look betta than the F1's cuss theyre so solid - the sidewalls dont bulge out like every other make of tyre, they go down straight from the rim . The only car tyre i kno of with 2ply sidewalls. They stick good too.

Hi Steve,

If you want Goodyears in 19 inch, better take out a mortgage, mate:D

They will be worth it, though. Khumos are fairly low budget tyres, so any premium make worth its salt will be a better bet.

I have just replaced a rear (Goodyear) after a puncture, cost £120 for a 255/40/zr17 if that helps.

Probably cheaper for mail or internet order though.
