I'm fitting an oil pressure gauge and it comes with it's own sender.

Where/how do I fit it?

I presume I need to drill into an oil channel somewhere?

buy a 90 degree elbow and it'll fit ok where the oil filter is. That's what I did and have had no problems :)

Vijay, where would I get one of these and what should I ask for exactly? (Halfords didn't have a clue  ) More importantly, do you think that this sender will still fit? I've attached a pic of the one me and Jaffa have. There is a 10mm (outer) diameter connector on the bottom, and the unit is 70mm high end to end (plus wires/crimps). There is also a 12mm adapter if required...

Any further opinions appreciated :D

Hello Steve,

This is the sort of thing you're after - http://www.actionvillage.com/039-0020.html

It's a 1/8 NPT male to female 90 degree elbow. Call BSR Aerotek - +44 (0)1386 849060 or call Demon Tweeks - 01978-664466

Hope that helps.

Vijay

Top man Vijay - owe you one mate!

Hi Mark

The Apexi should have come with a sender unit AFAIK. My sender was supplied with my gauge.. Where did you get your gauges from?

The Water temp gauge came from Smithy but that ones fine.

The oil pressure gauge came from Ebay and it came off an Type-R Integra so the oil pressure sender unit is probably still on the car......

ANy ideas?

Smithy, can we get a Apexi 300zx sender unit?!?

Hi Steve

Might be being a bit thick here but isnt that sender unit mechanical? It looks like it requires two oil feed lines or something like that? I thought you had an electrical gauge....which I presume just needs an electrical wire to send the pressure results to the gauge...

Cheers

Mark.

Oh and where did you get your sender unit from mate?

Sorry Mark - only just noticed your question when I linked this for Vini :slap: The sender is electrical mate - those are electrical terminals. It came with the gauge bud - Avanti (now sold as "Fast & Furious") gauges..

glad you posted this mate as Ive got a F&F oil press gauge to fit. the instructions are hopeless as 5 out of the 8 steps are all about locating the unit in the dash, switching off the ignition and disconnecting the battery. step 8 is about reconnecting the battery. so basically you got step 6 and 7 to tell you how to plumb the damn thing in :slap:

does anyone know out of the green and the red wire from the gauge, which gets crimped onto which terminal? also does the sender unit in Steve's picture require the elbow fitted or not?

mine's got five wires! black, white, red, orange and green

i can tell which 3 are purely for the backlight as someone else fitted my boost gauge - i took the right-hand cluster apart to follow the lead and undid the taping to find out how he connected it up to the headlight switch. the destructions say: green [signal wire], red [acc on], black [- ground], white [night lamp], orange [battery +] but the drawing only shows one terminal when there are in fact two as in Steve's picture above!!!
