 Read the small print on that table of scores, mentions something about personal preferences. Its not even the same person reviewing each car!!

I am glad you see that 4WD has the advantage on a 'real strip' (which incidentally is where 'real races' get settled), but on a grippier surface it just means I can put even MORE power down at the start. :p (I too have spun at Santa Pod - but not as much as you would have)

MAC1, your'e car is seriously modded and its a foregone conclusion that you would beat most GTO's on the road, but you will find it hard against a similar machine. Saying you 'killed' two GTO's/3000GT is irrelevant unless you know their full spec.

Andy

Yeah but the other artice are FACTS!

;)

Is the US GTO/3000GT a lower spec than UK ones as their fastest time with a stock one is over nearly half a second slower?

No Andy when the Greddy 18Gs are fitted together with the full engine rebuild It will have some SERIOUS power;)

I long for the day that I will come across a GTO that will match it stride for stride:D;)

now now, everyone put their handbags down:slap: :D

I'm with SMW1 on this, let's make sure the friendly banter doesn't get out of hand and we'll let the cars do the talking on the strip - no excuses.

Personally I think it'll be a great laugh and be very interesting to see how the cars compare.

James

PS This sounds like a good excuse for my first trip to the pod

If mine was ready i`d run against you ,but won`t be ready until March.Mine should run around 650bhp plus 150 shot later in the year

Bring it on,give me a shout when you ready:D

Oh but don't forget 650bhp into a 4x4 will probably be around 400rwhp:D:D;)

Yes thats true we loose about 25-30% but i don`t really care who wins i just like to build engines.

If the ZED i was after hadn`t been sold when i was looking i wouldn`t be driving a GTO.

I don`t really care which is better at what just as long as its Jap turbo or n/a.

That day will come in January.

 Yeah, Yeah, Yadda Yadda. Other magazines have a different set of 'facts' too. Quoting magazine times is pointless. If the review was done by Colin McRae after he had driven each car for a substancial amount of time and knew how to get the best out of each one, then maybe, just maybe the figures would prove something. Instead, it was probably conducted by some mid 40's reporter wearing brown cordroys and sandals.

All of this banter is good, and I hope nobody is taking it as anything more than just banter, but I just want to ask again - who amongst you has the fastest 1/4 to date, and what time/trap?

Here's some times for you to contemplate, show me some 300ZX times that compare >>

If you look closely, you'll also see an 18g equipped machine putting down 754 AWHP. Our drivetrain losses can be reduced considerably, dont become complacent in thinking that we ignore the fact 4WD eats a little bhp.

What do you mean Yeah, Yeah, Yadda Yadda. you fool?

Your the one coming to other forums to preach about how fantastic your cars are. I could go and trawl the web and come back with some of the 300's running insane times with massive power and believe me there are lots in the USA, but i wont because your opinion is not important enough and I dont feel the need to go loitering around other forums with the "my dads bigger than your dad attitude". Maybee im not as insecure about my car as you are.

I dont really care about your mates car could do this and that etc.

If you want an interested audience for that rubbish try McDonalds carpark.

I dont think any of the guys on here running big BHP have posted quarter mile times unfortunately :( Correct me if I'm wrong big boys... ;)

I'd expect a handful of low 12s from some people, Lots of 13s and 14s...

What about 11s? Macca? Anyone ;)

I would post me 1/4 times except i have never done one!

Which reminds me are we gonna have a class for 1/4 mile newbie???? :D

Why

just tell them to f*** off

the more you encourage them the longer they will hang around :(

3 of our privately owned cars will be running low 12's high 11's next year(i'm not talking about sumo power/abbey motorsport type owned/developed/sponsored skylines.. i am talking about daily drives and privately owned) In the states 2-3 of the(3000gt/gto/VR4) tuning companies have 10 second cars that are road legal but major outlay has been done.. and mainly as advertising beds..

Also

1. Great bit of rivalry never hurt anyone..

2. Let's not miss a great opportunity to work with another club to benefit the members of both clubs... joint track days/big group buys/insurance deals/boosting the understanding of our marques/and the values of second hand cars by educating each other and the public at large and most of all having a good time doing what we all love.. driving our babies and talking shit about em over several beers and a curry.. or whatever junk takes your fancy.. :D

Cheers

Amen to that :)

Hey Canker...I see you're in Rugby :) I'll keep an eye out for you, I live down the road in Daventry ;)

Nice one Mac ;)

real sportscars are rear wheel drive. four wheel drive is for landrovers. i looked at the 3000gt before i got my zed but after reading some road tests opted for the zed. i think the mitsubishis are too unreliable and the 50pence interior clock looks real classy:rofl:

Nice to see someone is getting into the spirit of things. :( paulg, If my opinion doesn't matter to you then you had no need to go off on one ffs! Understand that the banter is to be taken lightly rather than 'my dad/your dad/mcdonalds' shit, thats just not how it is.

Quite the opposite of f*cking off these forums, I'd rather see that this event for Z's and GTO's happens, if nothing else but for a bit of fun. If anyone's not interested in inter-club banter or events, then fair enough, but keep your flames to yourself and dont f*ck it up for everyone who wants to see stuff like this happen.

Thanks to whoever posted that insanely fast Z (no not the drag that just vaguely resembles a Z!), I did some quick searches but I couldn't come up with owt like that non-turbo Z. Shows you what a lot of NOS can do, sweet.

If anyone has any ideas for categories, or are we just taking the 10 fastest times recorded from 10 different cars? Without categories it just becomes a matter of who has the most number of modded motors - which is a bit pointless. DEFINATELY has to be a stock class, exhaust allowed perhaps.

Some are reliable, some are not. Some have been ragged to buggery, some have been pampered - you pays your money and takes your chances when you buy a 10 year old jap supercar. I'm sure there are plenty of dog rough Z's out there for sale.

Yes, the clock is utter shite. Damn, trust you to find the only thing a Z has something over us. :D
