Got my 91 jspec through the mot last saturday & there was a bit of a blow where the rear end of the exhaust joined the cat on one side. Whilst looking at it on the ramps & worrying about how much new cats might be he said mine didn't need cats anyway.

Is this correct?

Turned out not to need cats anyway.

Pre 92 (K reg) you are legally allowed to remove the cats.

Post 92 (K reg) if the original spec has cats, the car can not have the cats removed.
