UK Auto, 13 years old and only now starting to get a small bubble on the back arches... Oh, and the tailgate underneath is a little rusting (but sorting that out!!). 82K.

Cheers

How much extra did you pay for the rust? was it ony an option on the UK?

:D:D:D

Mike

1990 UK model, mileage ? well a NEW 5 1/2 grand short engine was fitted at 79,000 then a bottom end rebuild 30,000 miles later and that was 15,000 miles ago, oh and a little couple bubbles are appearing on back drivers side rear arch, bit of a patter here me thinks

smithy

Mines a UK too - 1993, 72k and no rust (but it was resprayed just before I got it).

Darren.

red uk t/t man and 1 black jap n/t auto

wez :duffer:

92k UK orig tubs 136+k

Rear OS wheel arch couple of bubbles => serious 2p sized repair. Otherwise mostly OK

92uk manual

had rust on rear wheel arches but thats now gone, also both rear sills rewelded.

1994 UK Manual, 78000 miles, no rust, but this one has the spoiler problem...

:)

1991 UK TT in Red, 78000 miles. No rust, most reliable car I've ever had. Luvittobits!

Good Greif!!!

While you guys seem to be on the topic of rust, I've just stumbled across SRRAE's posts on body rust on his car!!! Scariest thing I ever saw! I thought that sort of rot went away with the seventies and british leyland!!LOL

I thought the zed was galvanised and I wouldn't have to worry about rust, but that is something else. No wonder there aren't many UK ones left now!!

Mine is an import, and it really does have no rust on it at all, not even surface rust underneath, even the original exhaust is virtually rust free after 12 years (I have a car lift, so I've looked underneath properly).

Us import types, shouldn't get too smug though, as now they are over here, 10 years and...... I dread to think.

Convinced me of 2 things though!!! 1, going to waxoil mine very thoroughly as soon as possible & 2, Never going to buy a UK model!!!!!

How come you would never get a UK model???

Is it the rust thing? Or the damn millage thing?

Was thinking of getting a UK one in a year or so, as long as it has descent millage (e.g. pref less than 50K). UK spec would help me insurance wise (and low millage would help cos I do 15K a year) - but I have only seen 1 (or 2 at most) UK z's advertised that appealed to me (can't have red, white or  coloured).

Can you actually get new engines for Z's, or only reconditioned ones?? And how much does it cost:confused:

I've seen other posts and seen turbo's are about £1500 to buy and get them fitted, so would it be more?

Cheers.

I've got 2 UK manuals. One's a rust bucket although at least she has done over 180k miles

I've got one, red, auto, tt, big intercoolers, blitz induction, dump valves, blitz and koni suspension, blitz exhaust, grooved disks with EBC pads, tatty leather with silver leather kit, MOT'd needs emissions sorting(running rich) body work needs a little tlc.

Make me an offer!!!!! its got to go:(

I'm pleased I found a good, low mileage uk zed with FSH after all the import dogs I saw.

Imports were a good thing a couple of years ago, when they were a relatively new idea (ie before the entire motor trade started bringing in the rubbish).

I'm not knocking the import thing here, my Supra was imported 5 years ago and was A1 spotless. But now it's big business, all the previously ignored crap is being brought over so every trader can cash in, it would seem. Most (newly) imported zeds I looked at had obviously covered greater distances than the odometer suggested (eg AUTO gear shift worn totally smooth FFS - you don't use it most of the time!!!) and far too many botched body reps and mods.

I would only buy an import now if it had been here a few years (ie one of the early - genuinely good ones) particularly if it was from someone on this forum with a keen interest in the car.

My appologies to the good, reputable, established importers out there. But I'm sure they know what I mean.......:)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I'm in here! 1993 Uk Auto, red, only 47000 miles, tiny bit of rust on the rear. FSH!!

I pretend to work, they pretend to pay me!

Well I use to have an immaculate black UK spec until about 2 hours ago!:( Unfortunately the missus was involved in an accident and the car has been written off. Nobody was hurt thankfully! She was on a dual carriageway on the outside lane when a tractor on the inside lane decided to go to the outside lane without looking or indicating. She had no choice but to swerve and hit the central reservation and totalling the car. Tractor driver was totally oblivious and carried on.

As i said nobody was hurt and it could have been a lot worse. Everyone take care!!
