This f&*^%$£" sucks - need a new job ...

Hey all,

I am so f***ing pissed-off at the moment. Was "let go" from my job yesterday afternoon. Just like that - out of the blue - no warning, prior bollockings etc - just was told "leave your laptop and other office stuff on your desk, give us your security card, mobile phone and fuck off! I haven't done anything to warrant this, didn't fuck them over or anything like it. I am so gutted. I loved that job (Product Marketing Manager for a Unified Messaging company) and now I'm sitting at home thinking of ways to screw the company for some money (any and all suggestions are welcome). They will pay me a months salary and shit but that ain't enough. I have to look some shit up in the handbook and possibly take them to court for unfair dismissal or something because they didn't operate by the book. AHHHHHHHGRRRRR. Pardon my French but I'm royally fucked at the moment. My GF and I were just about to sign on the dotted line for a lovely new house near Oxford, she's just given up her job in B'ham to follow me to London where I (used to) work. It all just sucks!

Sorry to vent my anger over here guys but I need somewhere people understand how I feel. Please let me know if any of you know of any jobs going at the moment. I'm not too picky where (pref. B'ham, London or M40 corridor) or what (IT, telecoms, airlines, bordellos ...)

Anyway, I feel slightly better getting this off my chest. Am going to find a lawyer now ... Speak to you guys later.

Cheers!

Dan ... in desperate need of cheering up .

Man, I'm sorry to hear that !

Especially after what you told me the other week about your work and how much you liked it..

Can they do this just like that in the UK ?

I would sue those bastards to hell and back !

If you work for a company for less than two years there is just about diddly you can do, unless you are a pregnant woman.

nope i disagree if you have passed your 3 month probation period the company has to go by the rules end of story.

I was thinking more of south america..

Somewhere with a high enough standard of living not to kill me, but nothing fancy..

Just make enough money to rent a room by doing something (anything..)..

That'd do me right now..

Thanks for the support guys. I was a permanent employee (probation: March - June). I have looked at the handbook and there is a very detailed 3 step process that has to be followed (meetings with manager, HR and a witness just for starters) and I *should* have been able to appeal each stage. Unless I defraud the company, cause extensive monetary damage or anything else catastrophic, they (the company) have to follow those guidelines. What they have done is such bullshit. I reckon that the CEO found someone else for the job at half the price that they paid for me - bastard! Fortunately my other half works (also in her final weeks) for a major lawfirm who have a crack employment team - so if I don't find a hairy, I'll sell my granny, mean son-of-a-bitch lawyer to take them apart then I'll go to her company.

Anyway, as I now have a bit of free time on my hands I'm going to upload some pics into the rides section (have been meaning to do this for a while now).

So cheers all - and thank you!

Danny

As my late frend Billy used to say "you try to play the game of life and it fucks you"Its funny Danny but you never know what another man feels until you have walked in his shoes, what i mean is ,i know people think they are giving good advise about sue this and sue that, but this i find dose not help you right now and chances are they have never been in your position and sucsesfully won a case against a company, and the guy who asked you if you were sure you had done nothing, well i mean this really respectfully to that same guy but this kind of thing happens all the time and its people who lift there heads to look around in life who know this. I think thouse who have been where you are will realize that when a company or firm has it in for you its difficult to win them becourse if you get close to a sucssesful case against them they bring things out of nowhere to fuck you.But Danny you will one day prevail and remember one thing my frend never forget how you feel right now this will help you understand how other people feel from lets say a park cleaner, who has to live by each week and for no good reason get layed of while his boss on a 4 figure salary hasnt a clue of that fellas name who maybe has given 20 years of his life to his job, to managers maybe like your self who may be earned more money than that cleaner may ever earn in his/her life time.Like i said at the begining "YOU PLAY THE GAME OF LIFE AND IT FUCKS YOU" But you will prevail Danny!!and sometimes you have to fuck the system back with avengance so i wish you good luck in your case but remember even though you may not know it,you will have somthing you know about to fuck that company,THINK ABOUT IT MATE. Chaz,

The only information/Advice I gave was that told to me by my other half who is a proffesional in all of these cases.

I am waiting for a response (email) from Danny to get a bigger picture. As it stands at the moment from what I have read Danny is well within his rights to take his former employers to A.C.A.S., he should speak to them as they will tell him what he is entitled to and what his next step should be. I have been thru this process once before and I was prepared to let it 'Slide' and do nothing but I was told to go to A.C.A.S. as I was dismissed unfairly.

If I didn't know what I was talking about I would not have replied!

As my mom once said "If you don't know what your talking about, Shut your mouth!"

Very wise words indeed.

Hi Danny

What the F*** is going on here. I would definately keep this rolling, did the company have an HR department, can they explain anymore?

This is dejavu (thats spelt wrong) with my going ons last week. Things looking a little better and have received around a quarter of what is owed frown.gif, but I now have a personal guantee from my ex boss (as of today) for monies owed and a couple of interviews are coming my way!

Keep your chin up

Good Luck

Martin

Chaz - thanks m8! I understand what you're saying and I am certainly not going to go beserk before checking out all angles and opportunities. Thanks again.

Martin - our HR manager and I have been very close (not that close ...) and she is helping me out with a few of the issues. However, as she is in the company her first responsibility is to protect the interests of the company. She's in a tough spot... Good for you that you're getting what is rightfully yours! Excellent!

Matty - thanks for your mail - you should have mail in about 10 mins.

Cheers!

Danny

Guys - lets not go there! It is no use insulting others on this forum as it only causes hurt feelings and gets us nowhere. Lets just drop this and get on with it. I certainly never intended for these accusations to be made so please let it go. It's not worth it (not on my thread anyways smile.gif )

PeaZe!

Danny

PS: Matty - you've got mail!

Chaz,

Why don't you get hold of this end of the stick, it's the right end wink.gif there was not an insult directed at you.

I may be a company director but that's on paper (formed TopSquads 16 months ago) but still do my 'Little Man's' job, yes I do!

I work for Alcoa, I work shifts, Mornings, Afternoons and Nights, I do overtime at weekends. I hate it but at the moment it pays the bills, Once all the hard work (bitch doing to jobs) pays off I can become the 'Big Man' with a difference, I'll never forget I was and at heart will always be a 'Little Man'

I am still a 'Little Man' I get dumped on from a great height by upper management. If you read my previous post I state that I have been in Danny's shoes so I feel I can share my experience, sharing things help, wouldn't you agree?

And as for insulting you, you have that wrong. If I had said your name before that text (my moms wise words) I would have agreed with you but I never did. I was refering to the same thing as you in your post, people that were saying sue them......you have to move thru the right channels to succed.

And threats of violence, whats that all about.....???

Do you work for the futerals (i.e. Eddie and Co)?

Just curious.

Matty. 'Little Man' still but climbing the ladder.

....I need a hand!

Cheers,

At last a voice of sanity...

...All hail El Tooley General...

Correction to earlier post Top Squads.1997 was the last time I sacked someone so not had to check on the rules.

The two year rule has been reduced to one. You cannot claim unfair dismissal if you have been employed for less than a year.

See http://www.dti.gov.uk/er/ the full S.P. is there.

The bottom line is that within certain guidelines it ain't that difficult to sack somebody. Although it's harder now than ever before.

People forget the other side of the coin, often employers invest years and £0,000's of pounds in training employees, they can just up and leave for a better job and they don't have to pay the employer any redundancy.

All I can say is that the top 20% of people in any field (with a few exceptions) will always be in demand. If you are in this category, no problem, somebody will probably pay you more any way. If not then you have to make sure you get in the top 20%.

It's a tough world, there's no such thing as guaranteed job security, just be the best you can be and do more than your paid to do, and one day somebody WILL pay you more for what you do do!

I'll get down from my soap box now.

this has sort of left the original question hasent it. i still say it is unfair dismissal and you should look into this, most companys take it for granted that you will let it go...
