I've just noticed something. This is NO personal attack or whatever - just something I've just read and was NOT impressed. Here it is:

Once I have purchased the car tickets, you will be expected to pay me back, regardless of whether you turn up or not. This is initially coming off my PERSONAL credit card and any shortfall in ticket money will be coming directly from the club funds

Now, when I coughed up my money for the club funds (almost the day it was first mentioned) I did it to help the site out with bandwidth/server problems etc. I certainly DID NOT cough up so that it could be used to pay for people who want to abuse the system.

If they owe money to someone, then it is up to those 2 people to sort it out. The club funds are NOT for covering costs of bad debt management (or whatever you want to call it) - or are they? Who decided this would be the case? If what is said above goes ahead, forget any more money from me for deffo.

I'm not trying to cause trouble, I'm trying to stop it happening in the first place.

CheerZ for listening,

Andy

This is the flip side of it, Andy...

Ajay took a considerable financial risk to sort this out for the benefit of the club, out of the goodness of her heart. If she had not then 20+ people would have paid £17 and not 8.50 - so Ajay has actually saved the club £170+. Why should that risk not be covered?

Furthermore the situation only arose because of whatever problem it is with the club account. Normally, the club account would have fronted the money and any shortfall would have been made up by, er, the club account, since the money would have already gone out. So if Ajay does take money out to cover the shortfall, it's exactly the same as it would be if we'd used the club account in the normal way.

What -is- the problem with the account anyway?

Zack

PS [says me who didn't pay until after the event! Sorry Ajay.]

Exactly - the club funds are NOT there to cover the bad money management of members.

However, in this particular instance, the money came from my personal credit card and I'm sorry, I'm not going to fund track days / days out personally.

Therefore I gave everyone enough warning that they would be expected to pay for their tickets and that if they didn't want to attend they should remove their name from the list or the club will be penalised for their bad organisation. This was a decision made with the other mods and not just something I came up with on my own.

Had you funded Trax personally you would expect to be paid back, would you not? I can either gather the funds from the people who promised to pay when they requested the tickets or from the club itself.

Basically we are trying to get the members to not say they'll attend any meeting and then forcing the club to cough up for their tickets. That's not how we want it to work but as I said, there's no way I'm paying for 300ZX.CO.UK days out personally.

Andy has a valid point with regards to club funds, but then Ajay should not loose out over this either.

As mentioned above she paid for the tickets up front with her own money and not the clubs.

I say that if people do not pay for the tickets by a certain deadline then their accounts should be locked and the funds be reimbursed to Ajay via the Club money.

I imagine that this payment by Ajay was only done for subscribed members only, if not then there is a lesson to be learnt here. Only subscribed members should be entitles to any buy now pay later deals ;).

All valid points. Ajay should not have to pay for the people who haven't paid - AGREED! However, the club funds should NOT suffer because of a few people who fancy an easy ride - sorry but that is wrong. Everyone who ordered tickets knew the situation, it was quite clearly stated in Ajay's posts at the time, so whats the excuse? They went, they had a good time, why not pay up? I'm not paying for other people to attend events, sorry.

Like I said, in NO way is this a personal attack on Ajay, I just feel that the way it was approached was more than unfair on the rest of the 'members' of this 'club' ;)

CheerZ,

Andy

Ban non-paying members until they cough up.:slap:

Name and shame please - make it sticky so we know who to blame for this mess.

No! Ajay saved the people who attended Trax £170+ NOT THE CLUB.

IMHO, this is a matter of get the money first, this is not a valid use of club funds IMHO.

Tim

Expressing an opinion as a paid-up member who didn't attend or want to attend Trax

Got to agree with Tim on this one.

But no big deal, so lets not get carried away. Wouldn't want it to happen again though. If you fall short Ajay, the money compensated to you will be SOMEONES subscription. And that isn't what I paid mine for.

I know many of us have organised group buys or bought shared orders from the States, etc, and I hope they continue to do so.

However, if any of those go wrong and someone doesn't pay, I don't think it's fair for the organiser to take their losses out of club funds.

The money should either be collected up front, or the organiser should take the risk IMHO.

Which is pretty much EXACTLY what I was trying to say ;)

Anyway its a :slap: for me - anyone else fancy one? :D

I'll have one.............just pulling my trousers down now.............

yeah you're the 300zx whipping boy now !!

I agree, that Ajay should not pick up the tab for sorting this out for everyone.

How about downgrading the guilty parties accounts to guest status until they pay up?

And for those of you who haven't paid, ****ing well sort it out and send Ajay your cheques ASAP, it's only £8.50 FFS!!!

In future it will be a pay up before you get the ticket scenario. However, in this particular instance, there was not enough time. Therefore it was sorted out as best as possible in the time permitting.

That meant that I paid for the tickets personally. It has to be said that at the time I was not willing to do this for this very reason. I had a couple of conversations with other mods and it was either going to be my or their credit cards due to the time constraints.

Six of one, half a dozen of the other, I'm sure you'll agree.

Therefore, upshot was, I paid for the tickets acting on good faith. However, that which I predicted has come true and people have not paid for their tickets. As stated I will not pay for other people, therefore it was agreed with the other moderators that in this instance, any shortfall will be deducted from the club funds.

Everyone here can see the thread which states who has not paid. If you're really up in arms about me re-couping the money that I've already paid out, have a go at them for requesting a ticket and then not paying for it.

Yeah! Have a go a me! Come on pipe cleaner boy:D

Anita it is in the post honest!:D

Like I said, my reply was in the nature of Devil's advocate.

I personally can see both sides so I'm going to sit on the fence. (Do we have a smiley sitting on the fence?)

Tim, I am uneasy about the distinction between "people who attended Trax" and "the club" - if we start carving up the club into "people in this group buy," "people in that group buy," "people who had a question answered saving them the cost of a new TPS / clutch / HICAS ball joint etc" then we have a lot of little groups and no club.

I'm not so sure about GBs because a) it's a heck of a lot more money and b) traders normally carry this risk anyway and manage it as they see fit. It's the trader's choice whether they wait for payment or they take a flyer and order the stock in ahead of time - and who are we to dictate how they run a business?

Guess I'm up to four cents now... can I have that out of club funds? :D

Maybe this was a subtle way of shaming people into paying..... ;) Roy, cough up you tight fisted git - just cos you drive a supra don't mean you have to act stoooopid :D:D:D

I think this shows the danger of someone trying to help out the club.

Imagine this. Next year, the club decides to go to Trax and wants to buy a block of tickets to get the cheaper price. Many people stick their hands up and less-than-many people go.

At this stage, the club is down on the deal. What should happen next?

The only difference between this scenario and what happened to Ajay is that the club hadn't got its act together enough to do this yet so Ajay volunteered to sub the offer to club members.

It is diabolical that she hasn't been paid - particularly since the offer was open to all club members so we all have a responsibility of sorts. I for one am happy to repay Ajay out of club funds if the freeloaders don't cough up as they said they would.

If you kick people in the wallet like this, how likely is anyone to want to help out in future?

And, BTW, I didn't go, I have paid my sub, and I didn't participate in the discussion so I have no axe to grind.

Frankly I think it's disgusting that people didn't pay. I attended Trax with Ajay, and we spent more time traipsing around the car park looking for Zeds who might have needed their tickets than we did enjoying the show.

From what I have been reading on here, Ajay has given a lot to this Board (as have all the mods) and at every opportunity the "longer standing members" seem to feel the need to do some sh!t stirring.

The moderators (who decide club policy and ergo decide everything....if you don't like it: leave the club) have decreed that this arrangement is suitable compensation or ajays troubles in helping the club. If members have misbehaved against someone who is trying to help the CLUB then the club should renumerate, and AS A CLUB police it's members.

I can understand why the decision to renumerate from club funds would be questioned, but as this was already agreed....AND PUBLISHED ON THE BOARD, then it is too late to try and change that decision now.

As for members who have not paid.....what would you suggest?

If this was a financial organisation, then a debt collection agency, or perhaps the police would become involved.

I think it is terrible the way I have seen this board treat it's moderators., and I would like to add that it seems to be certain "more longstanding" members who cause these problems.

Can you not see how destructive it is, and how counterproductive?

If the "club" is set up right then it should have the ability to accept credit card payments for such events.

Simple really and not a massive cost involved.

Bob

my money is on the way as soon as I post it tomorrow :) lost my cheque book so cash will have to do.

Mr Freeloader

and now for your entertainment a dancing banana

100% agreed.

But as was discussed, this was a last minute thing, and there was insufficient time to set up such things.

This was a kind gesture that has been rebuffed.
