I don't suppose anyone has a clue what goes wrong with these things?

At first I though it would have just had a bulb/bulbs in there but it appears to have what must be a flourescent tube instead as there's a transformer which must drive it

Anyone got any ideas?

I tried to get to the tube but I was afraid of breaking the perspex front to the panel.

Oh I see, so in that case it's probably the EL inverter (the thing I called a transformer) that is knackered. Oh bugger!

Don't suppose you know how many volts A.C. it's supposed to give out?

my inverter melted after a couple of days.

Ive been thinking of buying the inverter from RS spares as it should work.
