a subject close to all ...the dreadfull lights on the Z .....i have recently employed a man waving a red flag with a davey lamp stuck on to his head to guide my way ( he does have to run very very very fast ).........no honestly my question is ,are there any aftermarket light conversions out there that retain the origional look of the OE ?

or does anybody know of a good cure for J spec car ?

100Watt bulbs from Halfords too, but they wont last very long. They tend to blow because they over heat in the small area.

Try a GOOD Quality bulb, like Philips, but choose a Bright one, look on the packet for the extra light claim. And then you dont have to go to bigger wattage.

These good (65w) bulbs are often better than cheap 100 watt bulbs anyway.

I have tried BOSH 100W bulbs and they only lasted 2 months or so.

I saw a site which sold offical Nissan Xion lights for the Z. At £1200 I think its a little down the list of wanted stuff.

well i think 1200 quid is a bit out of my range at the mo especialy since that is what i need for my Hybrid 2 turbos from smithy...

think i will order up soem H3C super whites from PIAA at 26 quid a side . 55w power drain 85w equal output

Ask Jeff at zedworld if youre after the HID jobbies, think he can do a set for a much better price than £1200.

Or just leave your fogs on all the time like the rest of us do!!!!

I don't understand why people's 100W converted light bulb keep blowing. I bought mine from Halfords last year April (!), soldered on an earth lead and they are still working fine ... having said that they will probably blow in the next few days now :) What you need to make sure of when soldering on the new earth lead is that (a) it makes a good connection with the bulb, (b) you're using a propper electrical lead, i.e., a 27Amp lead, and © that the lead makes good contact at the earthing point on the car. Oh, and don't touch the glass bit of the bulb with your bare fingers when handling the bulb.

a Geordie lamp is a good upgrade for a Davey lamp ;) :D :D

Are the poor lights a J spec problem only? I have a UK car and the lights are great. Infact a passenger said to me how good the headlight were!

I remember reading the 300ZX buyers guide in Jap Performance which did say the J-spec headlights were crap compared to UK ones. Why not try replacing lights with UK ones.................?

Failing that, PIAA bulbs are the way to go. They are available from Demon Tweeks in various sizes and give out the same (if not more) light than higher wattage bulbs but only draw 55watts.

The Extreme White range are the best, but are about £70 a pair. I use these in both my cars and they are f'ing good - similar colour/output as HID for a fraction of the cost.

Oh, and they last quite a while too.......:)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:
