I have been offered the above clutch at a good price. It only has 300 miles on it and I have been told by a friend that it is in excellent condition.

Can anyone offer some insight into this clutch? .. I need a clutch that will take the extra HP but I don't particularly want to go to the gym in order to operate it.

The clutch I have been told is worth 1.5k .. he is offering it to me for £500

Also I don't think the flywheel is included .. I thought that most of these clutches came with a suitable flywheel, so am I letting myself in for trouble ?...

Cheers

Chris

I think you will need to have a flywheel suitable for that Clutch and I don't think the stock one is a worthy contender.

The twin plate HKS is a bit of a b|tch to be honest. I have a Stillen Twin in mine and it's very close to the stock feel. However I have driven Jaffa's car which is fitted with a twin plate HKS and after about 2 miles of back streets I pulled over and told him to drive it, because you have to rev the engine in order to change down a gear, it's a little on the tricky side if you are not used to it, but I think James (jaffa) is more than happy with it.

The only thing which is a little worrying if you don't know about them is the fact that the plates rattle together when the clutch is not engaged.

The HKS one (twin disc) is the only one i know whereby unless you got some serious power, it ain't worth didly squat.. it operates far better on high performance engines and i know for certain of 2 people who have sold theirs second hand because of this point, they were tuned, but not higher than 400bhp, so they sold em on.

Gees if yer happy paying 500 bucks can sort you out a really good one, for around 400 quid you'l get the RPS MAK kit, capable of holding 500 ponies and that's the disc version, sprung hubs cost a little more.

Hi Smithy,

My first choice was the RPS street clutch so I think I will probably go for that one .... That should be enough for my needs ... :-)

Will give you a bell soon to arrange. What is the delivery time on these at the mo?

The HKS one sounded good but I really wanted to check to see if it was suitable and how it would effect the driveability of the car. I don't really fancy being stuck in a motorway jam using that one .. no what I mean!

cheers

well you're welcome to try mine!!

I'm happy with it even though it's a bitch in traffic - basically you forget about smooth pull away's.

It's very good once on the move, and you learn to heel and toe pretty quick when changing down for engine braking :o

PS you'll need a matching flywheel with that
