What fuel should I be using for my Z32 TT. It seems to run fine on both regular and Super unleaded.

Will it harm the car if I use regular?.

Featured Replies

Unless you are running higher boost than stock it is ok to use normal every once in a while if there's nowt better ;)

Best to use super or optimax if you can IMO.

Japan normal fuel is 100 Oct while ours is 95 Oct but Super and Optimax is 97/98 Oct.

UK Zs are made for 95 Oct but wont hurt putting in Super or Optimax. I always put Optimax in when I can. It makes the car run better.

For Jap Imports you should try to run Super or Optimax as the Jap ECU is made for the higher level of fuel as I believe, but running normal unleaded wont do any harm.

If you modify your car you should put Super of Optimax in as it helps prevent detonation.

Thanks people.

LOL ... I'll see you in the Shell Garage on Bluebell Hill then!! :D

CheerZ,

JB.

he he, I was just thinking where the nearest Shell was situated.

Thanks.

Do you know much about the Z's engine?. I cant help feeling I have been ripped off with mine. The bodywork is superb but I just feel a bit let down by the engines performance.

I have bought new sparks, oil, fuel and air filters. (still to fit) and I hope this improves things.

Not to confident with the plugs though?, can you offer any advice?

Sounds like classic safety boost symptoms. Do an ecu diagnostic http://www.ttzd.com/tech/diagnostictech.html and see what you come up with ;) Fingers crossed you don't get a code 34 but we'll go down that route when we come to it....

Kia,

Although I am a keen Z fanatic, I'm definitely not one of the forum's greatest mechanical brains I'm afraid. I certainly can help you ascertain whether you've got a safety boost problem as Andy suggests though, I've had to run the diagnostic a few times myself!! ;)

I'll be about Saturday morning if you don't get any better offers of help in the mean time. Send me a PM and I'll give you a bell if you wanna meet up. I'll give you whatever help I can.

CheerZ,

JB.

Thanks for the advice.

JB, I cant PM you for some reason. It is telling me I do not have permission!?. I will email you if that is Ok?.

Also I noticed you are a IT Manager. I work in the IT industry too, I support a Office in Maidstone, both desktop and netowrk Admin.

Methanol with dissolved nitrous oxide ;) :D :D

......up in flames.

Can anyone recommend a decent Fuel additive to clean out crap from the engine.

I changed the fuel filter last night and it came out black with bits in it. Can't be good.

So its done its job!!! ;)

TBH I wouldn't recommend using ANY of the injector cleaning substances out there - never really had any success with them anyway and you risk dragging the crap out of the fuel lines and blocking the injectors properly.

Point taken. Cheers.

Got to agree with Andy here virtually all the Injector cleaning substances are crap BUT there is one I have come across that actually did make a difference , this product is made by powerflow and is called BG44K and is not cheap at £20 a time

After running a tank of this stuff the car just ran and idle'd smoother (of course this could all just be in my head as coincidence)

here's a little more info on it

You can make up your own mind :)

we use Elite, though iv also used Forte, both of which are good.

wouldnt worry to much about "crap" being dragged through, as most of the problem is from laqour in the fuel which gets deposited on injectors which fuel cleaner will remove.

:)

Shell OPTIMAX keeps injectors clean -trying using that occasonally.

Thank you for that word from our sponsor!

Not but seriously though folks, don't use anything but Optimax at the minimum. ;)

And if it's got cleaning agents in it as well (and Nelson should know) then that's a bonus.

Optimax it is then. Thanks.
