Sorry about repeating a commonly asked question.

My insurance renwal quote has come through this morning at £789 for a Jap import TT (H reg), I'm 29 and have full no claims.

Does this sound reasonable? It doesn't to me.

Where else should I be looking for Jap import insurers?

Many thanks,

Andy

It seems there are two Lifesure Classic policies. Classic and Classic Everyday

Classic is very cheap and applicable only to sub 5000 miles per year, evening/weekend use and as a second car.

Classic Everyday, has no mileage restricions and allows commuting etc, but is about twice the price.

Just got my quote for Classic Everyday and it's now risen from £478 last year to £528 this - bastados !

But that does Imports and declared mods .... ;)

I'm with Lifesure, £378 fully comp on their classic car policy.

It has to be a 2nd car with limited miliage, off road with alarm system. excess £100.

Some might find this too restricting but is fine for me.

I wish I could get cheaper insurance - I just phoned Direct Line, because someone further up this thread got quoted £860 for a Jap 2+2 TT.

My Direct Line quote for Jap 2+2 TT, HKS exhaust, 17" Wheels and no other mods - £2800 for fully comp SDP +Commuting, 6000 miles a year, Must have a tracker, 27 Years Old, 3 Years no claims, No accidents, 1 SP30/3 points. And that quote was with a £1000 excess

A-Plan are cheapest for me so far - £1690 fully comp.

Apparently areas are rated between 1 and 99 for theft, 99 being worst. I live in a 93. So I figure that my car will get stolen at least once every three years based on that premium. I'd hate to pay almost £3000 a year on a £6000 car and not have it nicked. It'd feel like I was paying for nothing.

Where TF do you live gibbon666??! That is a b'stard quote  Do you have it garaged at night?

I hate insurance companies...

It's not garaged but it is well off-road in a private car park at the flats where I live. It's not like anyone even comes down to these flats unless they are visiting someone here - it's not a through way or anything like that.

I though that a CAT 1 and a tracker (if I went with Direct Line ,A-Plan didn't need one) would make it relatively unnickable, but the insurance company think different.

If I was insuring me I'd be more worried about it getting crashed :D I've seen me drive and it's very worrying

Just a quick note on trackers - Only 3 cop vehicals in the country are equipped to track your car if i gets nicked - and 1 helicopter!

Sound good ?

Sounds pathetic to me - how much is a tracker a year to run?

Good old police eh

ps. 2 of the cop cars are in avon and somerset !! Miles away from most of the country

Hi Chris,

I spoke to the bossman a few weeks back and he said that as long as your car is not in need of an SVA test then it should be ready about 2-3 days after it docks.

I'm a bit concerned about how they will mount the fog light though. Bet they just hang it under the rear bumper. I thinbk that looks horrible.

Justin.

Just phoned Carole Nash and they said they wouldn't insure a classic car if it has a bodykit fittted:confused:
