Alright Guys.

My Z is doing my head in...basically i have a brake shudder above 40 mph that is really bad, below that speed there is no shudder whatsoever, no feeling of warped discs from the brake pedal, the only thing I have replaced is the pads recently.

OK Steering now, my inner sides of the front tyres are worn to near the legal limit, and when I look at the car wheels it really looks like the tracking is miles towing out so this would add up to the tyre wear, I have replaced the front tension rod bushes/steering rack bushes with the Energy Suspension bushes, but i havent replaced the bottom wishbone bush with a poly one.

Is it possible that the tracking being miles out and the 225 wide front tyres, and maybee the fact i still have origional wishbone bushes maybee the vibration at higher speed is from these 2 points or am i waffling on for feck all.

Anyone any input ....cheers John Crisp

try polly tension bushes. £45 form Z center. bit of a bugger to fit though.

Poly bushes are whats fitted to the tension rods, and the steering rack but not the mount onto the x-member to wishbone bush.

Simmo, passenger wheel bearing replaced maybee 500 miles ago, i think i'll try torquing the nut again in case its came loose.

Cheers guys

John, can you feel the judder through the steering wheel or is it more of a "cabin" judder? I had this problem for about 18 months (judder when braking above 40mph) and it turned out to be my rear discs! I had by this time changed everything up front (tension rods, link arms etc..) Bloody typical

Cheerz

What did you get Steve, the Cabin judder or the steering judder ?

Forgot to say that excess on inner section of tyre

= too much 'Toe-out'.

Does sound as tho' you have 1/2 disc/s warped.

Mine was primarily cabin judder Stu. Not really much through the steering although a little.

Cheers Guys

The juddering i get is deffo steering...the wheel shakes quite violently but i was thinking that maybee the front brakes are doing most of the braking with the back not doing enough. I think i'll get a set of back pads and see if there is a difference and tonight i am gonna re torque the front wheelbearings to see if that makes a difference.

I think the fault is being exagerated more bye the fact that my tracking is obviously out.

Feckin zeds...i am beginning to really hate mine....till i drive it and all the things wrong go out the window (till i brake).

Cheers Again......John crisp

If the steering shakes then the most likely will be disc problem.

I know I suggested bearings but on reflection you would feel

problem there in more than just braking.

If we were all sensible rational people:

a: We would be boring.

b: We would all drive Fords.

Hell, you do not need to drive the Zed to change yr mind;

just look at her standing there.

:D :D

well, keep us updated John, I'd be very interested to find out what it is if it's not the discs ?

I had this. Did poly bushes etc and rebuilt calipers due to sticking pistons had discs skimmed but no good. Cure in the end was new 3g discs.
