The film isn't that expensive really, and it's not that hard to do. I've done my own but it does help if you have a second person helping. Just make sure that you use a good solution like windowlene, but nothing with a colour in it, and ensure that you have drenched everywhere and then start sqeegying from the centre outwards.

Good luck.

Jock I paid £250 to have mine done and am very pleased with the job,However IMHO It gets hotter inside:(

Be careful, there are many cheap films out there, and if it all goes wrong, the cheap films are diffult to get off. When I bought my Z 2 months ago, visibility out the back window was so poor (not because of the colour, but because it all "pinhole" blistered) that it had to come off. I tried all the methods of film removal, ammonia, sugar soap, etc. they softened it a bit, but the only way it would come off was scraping with a razor blade in a holder. The imports have the rear window defroster stuck on the inside, so I have probably ruined it in the process.

DIY is ok on flat-ish glass (like the sides and rear three-quarter lights), but joints on curved stuff (ie rear window) needs to be left to someone who's done it before!

Cheapest quote I've had in Manchester was £330, but this includes removing some previous owners DIY tints first.

MAC, where did you get yours done?

Would you recommend them?

cheers lads,

I am not as patient as I might be, so it might be a good idea to let someone else do this.

I did ask the guy about the heat thing, apparently all their films, including the clear, block 90ish percent of UVA/UVB. The other thing that swayed me was they take the glass out and feather the edges and bake it on so you dont get that clear strip round the edge.

Let you know how it goes

Cheers again

Wise Choice Jock,am not saying you can't do it yourself but I have seen people try and do this and it's not an easy job,the rear window is a fookin nightmare:confused:

:D

Well I must say I have seen a few tinted windows but the job that I had done on mine is 2nd to none. It's excellent. 100% perfection and very very professional. I only paid £150 for limo tinted rear screen and quarters and 35% tint on front door windows.

I'm not sure if the guy is still available, but if my contact is reading this and he is (you know who you are ;) ), give jock a shout :D.

I guess you could do a zed with the offcuts from a range rover!

Do you think he'd mind stripping out the existing cacky bits too?

Where is he based?
