been doing a bit of fault finding today , trying to find why my car wont start. replaced ptu and no difference. ecu diagnostics code 11 and 21. ignition circuit aND crank angle sensor. took CAS and put back in wiggled harness around a bit and car started. now running on less than six cylinders , poss 3 or 4. still codes 11 and 21. how can i check to see if the cas is definetly my problem?

getting very desperate now. any help or suggestions appreciated. thanks ...lee

also after lots of cranking took plugs out and they were dry. there was fuel from the filter so must be injectors? arent they controlled by cas?

someone help cheers ...lee

Yes they're controlled by the CAS - as is the spark (indirectly, obviously). So it does look very much like you're looking at a CAS problem, or problem with the loom to the CAS.

I can't remember now exactly, but I have a sneaking suspicion that a CAS fault can actually also cause a code 21 in the process.

any way of checking cas is faulty or is it a replace with a known good one job? i have found 2nd hand cas for £100 from breakers is this reasonable price?

cheers for any help ...lee

Yep,

Remove the CAS from the engine keeping the harness connected.

Turn the ignition to the on position.

Hold the CAS with the connector double edge facing down i.e. ( on the connector you will have one side like this

__| |__ = single edge, and the other side will be like this _| |__| |_ = double edge) Using a multimeter check the voltage between the last wire (i.e. the one on the right) and the 2nd from last wire. To test each wire use the + on the voltmeter to the wire and the - on the voltmeter to the battery negative.

There should be a flucuation of about 5v between each of the wires while turning the cas slowly.

Do you see the same codes seen here? If not, I'd personally start with more basic troubleshooting. Check spark, fuel and air delivery.
