Another over estimated computer crash that never happened

Stuart

Bit like Y2K, loadsa people high up in companies panicing and paying people like me shit loads to install a few patch bundels...LARGE! Then what???

NOTHING HAPPENED! Just demonstrates that people who know nothing about IT know nothing about IT and should stick to being useless managers and directors! LMFAO!

Tim

:-0

P.S. My Bro isn't one of them, he is productive and sacks people all the time...LOL! biggrin.gif

Oh I don't know, I guess that the owners of the 400,000 odd PCs that did get Wormed would disagree... biggrin.gif

Hey, easy Tim. Just proves that people who DO know something about IT took appropriate measures to preempt the problem. (Well some of us did anyway).

Anyway, this was a fairly easy one, only affected servers (sh1tty Micro$oft ones) and plenty of warning. Email virii are worse, if you run Micro$ofts' virus distribution application (Outlook), because they spread faster and infect more machines.

am i the only person who never recieves viruses, cause i wante to sendone on tho this lady and i dont have any lol

Sorry And, didn't mean IT Managers mate! LOL!

I mean big, big Managers like one we had here who was put in charge of scaring all the Directors etc. He was a complete Leo named Leon actually...LMFAO! biggrin.gif

I still think that IT Security is an area of IT that I'd love to go into...you get to scan peoples emails and watch them surfing for porn all day, then grass them up! Excellent! biggrin.gif

The answer to the virus problem...

... buy a Mac!

Ha!!

Tim

yeah, that was one of my tasks in a previous job. Mine, because the lads would enjoy it too much, apparently. Didn't stop them suddenly becoming very interested in talking to me while I was scanning the drives, though! biggrin.gif Our users had filled up there allocated space on the servers and I had to go through and scan for games and pictures. By the end of it, my PC had over 2 gig of porn lurking. Niiice. Including nearly a gig from a particular worker who had access to a digital camera as part of his work and had taken it home and utilised it on himself and others. Plus, he was a 6footer, built like a brick outhouse (I'm polite! smile.gif) and his Favourites consisted of The World Cup (ok, feasible), Guinness Home Page (Yes, possible) and 1001 Pictures of Pot Pourri (uh...no...don't think so) and no, it wasn't, but my education leapt a few notches when I found out what WAS on this site...all manner of combinations of people / vegetables and other stuff.... biggrin.gif

Windows ME isnt targeted by the worm. So Im safe. Its uncompatible, crappy, Windows 2000 users who are in danger.

Not quite. It's MS W2K and NT Servers running IIS 4.0 and 5.0. Web servers only - nothing to do with clients/workstations.

And who said the way to avoid viruses was to get a Mac - that was a joke right. They were THE WORST - and that was years ago. The only reason they are less of a problem now is that there are fewer of them around !

Yeah, in summer having a MAC is great, but in winter when hanging around outside public womens toilets you get a right chill! LMFAO! biggrin.gif
