This Billing weekend revealed both the best and the very worst types of behavior from so called car enthusiast. To anyone who did not attend you were spared the experience of the “worst kind of behavior”

 

Friday night's good humor and anticipation of a good weekend sadly for Zedworld at least was very short lived.

 

Very soon after the marquee was set up early on the Saturday morning, we suffered abuse , cat calling, slagging, whatever! fake phone calls to our mobile and a seriously offensive message left on a voice mail anonymously! and all from forum members or forum member's friend's! who used the many cars and crowds as cover to hide themselves.

 

The message was left late Saturday morning during part of the worst shouting and cat calling, whilst we had customers attempting to look around the stall, as I was busy with trying to serve and assist customers, keep a security check on my own zed and watching out for what seemed like an inevitable flash point so I did not answer the phone, however my young daughter who came along to help on the stall did! the message she heard is printed below in upper case to demonstrate some of the impact it had on my young daughter.

 

(Background noise of cars and tannoy announcement also clearly includes a female voice saying no you can not say that followed by laughing of other people involved)

 

Male voice (Northern Accent)

 

“I KNOW WERE YOU LIVE! ............. I NOW YOUR NAME.....................................................

 

I AM GOING TO SLICE YOUR F&CKING FACE OFF AND CUT YOU UP AND EAT YOU”

 

(Laughing and line cuts off )

 

The call was made anonymously

 

 

Now consider for a moment that my young daughter listen to this? how would any father feel when his daughter is upset by something like this?

 

“Orange” mallicious call control and West midlands police are to be dealing with this.

 

The day progressed in much the same manner but with the exception of more and more customers / forum members wanting to distance them self from what was happening and agreeing it was out of order, especially after hearing the message that had been left.

 

Whilst it was some times tense and intimidating as a company any kind of reaction is NOT possible and this in itself is frustrating and annoying.

 

At the end of the first day (Saturday) we left at around 7:00pm the whole stock had been removed from the stall back to the hire van because of security worries, however the marque was quite large (3 hours to put up) and so was left secured and closed up. Shortly after leaving we have been informed that the marquee was opened up and used as a make shift bar and barbecue area. An adjacent trader was unaware that these people should not of been in there and so did not call security despite the place been generally trashed till the early hours.

 

As we arrived Sunday morning one of the organiser`s spoke to me and explained what had happened, he was so disgusted with how the marquee had been left that he asked the site cleaner to clean it up before we got there He was also very angry that all the organising he had done had been abused and was squarely directing the blame on 300 zx forum members who he knew were responsible.

 

There was still an amount of rubbish and beer cans that we had to clear up, securing roof ties were missing and ground pegs pulled up, and the worst of it was a deliberate act of criminal vandalism...the rear of the marquee had been slashed!

 

Casual observers of the nights events have mentioned many faces and names of FORUM MEMBERS who were in the marquee you know who you are!

 

A moment of pause whilst we looked at the marquee and to decide what to do?.... weeks of preparation, hundreds of pound's spent in stock, hire van, hotel cost's all for this! whilst we surveyed the situation a selection of forum members looked on smirking and whispering right in front of the marquee. Well sorry guys you did not win because despite all your efforts we carried on.

 

Cat calling and barking sounds??? etc. was still a feature of the day but you do get used to it after a bit .....I know this thread has gone on, but this is a serious issue that has much bigger long term implications for the forum and the forum's reputation for future traders and new members.

 

I was visited by Andrew Glen (Chairman of this forum) who was moving around the show and explaining on how the future of the forum is heading, with better rules and regulation, more club type activity and less slagging off. Can you image his surprise at what I had to tell him what had gone on and let him hear the message I was left!

 

Always the same problem whether it be a car show or the school play ground a small minority spoil it for the rest, The forum reputation has been damaged by this and that is no doubt, we had to have Billing security take a look at the criminal damage to the Marquee to support a police statement. Both local and the main organisers mentioned 300zx forum members by description, and that it had been the worst weekend for bad behavior this year! I can see from what I have been told that the 300zx forum getting banned from these events if this continues and that's what I meant by the few spoiling it for everyone else.

 

Oh and the marquee was not mine but borrowed from a fellow Zed owner!

 

I will take this opportunity to thank the many customers and forum members who did business with us or just gave support, and finally to the people involved, you know who you are, all who witnessed it know who you are, so what was the point? a weekend ruined

Ps Martin F I see you moved another forum members post to non subscribed area that had made mention to this...why? if your only concern is it will put off new members then I think you are wrong let them decide for themselves, Andrew Glen gave me the impression that positive action and more defined guidelines are the way forward, but it will take some time to impliment why not start now by NOT move this post.

I am sitting here stunned to read this, Matty posted something earlier that sounded too bad to be true.

 

For what little my sympathy/ fellow feeling may be worth to you, you have it and I really feel uncomfortable tonight, as I finish my work and head home, I feel you have been wronged.

It should not have happened and has done damage to the forum.

The hooligan element I am afraid and very immature.

 

My sympathies are with you Jeff and your daughter, your work and advice is always appreciated and I hope you will continue to give it on this Forum.

 

I also hope those responsible are ashamed of themselves and will be held to account.

Late yesterday afternoon I read Matty's post, and was shocked. Now reading yours I am not only shocked but near to tears after learning the facts of the disgracefull behavour of a few morons.

 

Matty, and probably you and a few others know who is responsible for this. These few idiots are truly poor excuses for human beings, and I hope they are banished forever from this board. I hope the police deal with them, but even if they are caught, its unlikely they will get a fitting punishment. For a moment, I wish we had some of the laws of Singapore, for they would be 'birched' in public, with 25 lashed on the back causing blood and permanent scars and injury.

I hope you and your daughter can try to put this event behind you, and that you continue to do the good work that you do.

 

I'm glad I did not go to Billing, I hate stuff like this.

Hi Jeff, sorry to hear all of what has happened.

When I spoke to you yesterday afternoon, I was not aware of what had happened........I am totally disgusted as to all of this, it just goes to show what totall w*****s there are out there. It doesn't matter what anybody thinks of someone else, there is no excuse for this type of behaviour.

 

With all the back stabbing that goes on on this forum, I agree with those that are of the impression that new people will not want to bother with it in the future, especially with this kind of thing happening at shows where the forum is represented.

 

And to those of you who did this, and think 'Lets have a look at what is being written', just grow up, or better still F**K OFF, you dont deserve to be here, you may not like Jeff, thats your opinion, but there is NO excuse for this, so do all us real Z enthusiasts a favour, GET LOST, you're scum!!!!

i'm incredulous that someone would do that - WHY?

 

I've been moping around all weekend because the zed wasnt ready to come to billing but now i am really glad i didnt go. No matter what the situation is there is simply no excuse for that kind of behaviour - as a newbie to this forum i know my thoughts dont carry much weight but i think this really needs to be addressed - where does it stop?

 

I have seen some of the posts in the last month or so and have kept quiet because there is no way i could know who's side is right but you have my full support on this one - there is a big difference between making a point or larking about - what was done to this weekend was evil.

What happened over the weekend was truly disgusting,i talked with Jeff early sunday morning,was looking forward to a realy great day,then i was told of what had happend to the marquee and heard the phone message:( ,after which i felt disgusted,angry,and to be honest embarased to be a member of 300zx.co,i thought about going home,but having to young lads with me that had waited months to go to this event(who i told of what had happend,they were in disbelief that this could happen at a car show!!)i allso thought no,stay,Jeff and his family are nice honest hard working people,whom i have met many times now,by staying i could give some support in some way,theres no way anyone on here can say that any trader,busines owner,fellow member,or who ever should have to go through all this shite that over the last few months ,has gone on and on like some festering ****ing wound that will not heel,culminating in a ****ing disgusting act of vandalism and threats to Jeff.

What ever goes on on this site i have no problem with,i never wanted to get involved,its not my scene,i have a choice,but it effects me personaly when a friend and his family get puplicly abused,threatend,imtimidated,so to those that did it i say get a ****ing life,get that chip off your shoulder,and for **** sake grow up,.Jeff has my full support,and in what ever action follows these dreadfull events,i hope that after 30 odd years of going to meets and shows i never have to witness this again,society truly has got ****ed if it continues,Tony:mad:

Thats a disgrace - the forum will probably be banned from Billing next year - I hope whoever did it gets caught. Makes me embarrassed to own a 300zx and be associated with this kind of rubbish. Grow up and get a life - sell your 300zx and dont come back. We dont want this.

Although this reflects badly on the 'club' is this not however a personal matter between Jeff and the 'culprits'?

 

We must not forget that as yet we are not an official club and do not have a set of rules to work from. So, expulsion/exclusion is not an option.

 

May I suggest that the people who are trying to turn this 'chat room' into a club ensure that there is a 'bringing the club into disrepute' clause in the constitution.

 

Jeff I am very sorry to hear what has happened, but I just hope that everyone else can be objective and not form a lynch mob.

Which is exactly what posts like this, and Matty's will turn into - a witch hunt. They always do, and always will on an internet forum.

 

I also believe that as it's a matter for the parties concerned and the authorities, posts like this shouldn't be made.. Afterall, aren't there rules about not discussing pending prosecutions etc? So posts like this could work for/against the wrong parties if things do go to court.

 

Sorry, but both Matty's and Jeff's posts give the air of "We should keep this between the parties concerned", which makes them rather hypocritical given the posts were made..

When I saw the huge Zedworld tent on our plot I knew it was a bad idea. There was so many people there that he has upset it was a timebomb waiting to go off.

Sorry Paul, but as far as I am aware there are only a handful of people that have had problems with Jeff. Even if someone does have a problem they should be able to sort it out without resorting to this level of crap..

 

I saw Vinz and Jeff shaking hands and being very civil with each other. Andy is also said to have come to a truce with Jeff. I think it was probably a combination of boredom and booze which caused the problems this weekend. This is no excuse however, and feel really badly for Jeff and his daughter...

 

If I had turned up at Billing to promote my business and recieved this sort of treatment I don't want to think about what I'd be doing right now.. :mad: :mad: :mad:

I'm not out to hang anyone, I only said what I saw and heard. At no point have I lied in my posts.

 

I'm just posting my Billing experience on this forum, there were 2 posts from me, one covering my feelings on the whole shouting, abusing, etc... and one on how the event was apart from the shouting, abusing etc...

 

I was just making a point that I found it disgusting, who said what (when I was there) and what I thought of it, if I can't say that what's the point of being able to use this board?

 

As for the other things, I wasn't there I can't comment but only from the evidence I was shown and listened too......(reference Andy for the northern accent and nothing else!!)

 

I agree with the point of it should be kept between Emero and Jeff but like I say, I was posting about what I saw and heard and found it offensive and completely out of order.

Ok my side of events.

 

ALL of this was resolved yesterday - Jeff you heard my voice and you agreed it sounded nothing like me - so why now try to imply me? Both lynsay and me heard the message and were disgusted at what we heard - as you saw!!! Was everyone at billing with a northern accent with me? I don't think so! Your mobile number was on your display - it could have been ANYONE but to publicly accuse me is beyond belief tbh.

 

Now the marquee - I told you at the time it WAS NOT ME who damaged it and again you saw my disgust at what had happened. Why would I be stupid enough to do that? Anyone who knows me or has met me (and there's a few) should know I wouldn't do anything like that.

 

As far as my mates behaviour, well, what would you like me to do? Gag them? Tie them up and leave them in the tent? Yes it was OTT but what am I supposed to do? I told them to calm it down, but it carried on. TBH I spent VERY little time around the 300zx.co.uk stand - hey, I've seen plenty of zeds before, why not look at something new!

 

As you can probably work out, I went over to Jeff's stand yesterday afternoon to put an end to all this. I left it till then as I didn't want to do it in front of any of his customers. When I first approached you, your wife was incredibly rude to lynsay - so much so I initially walked away. Yes you were upset by what had happened BUT I seem to remember 'innocent until proven guilty' - we'll see....

 

I'd also like to thank everyone else, again 'innocent until proven guilty' springs to mind. You want me to Fuck off? Well, if you REALLY believe I caused any damage then ok - but now you've heard both sides of the story? Although now I feel like I'm not really wanted around here now, which is a shame really.
