Dont know if anybody has seen these or is even interested, but I've just got a brand new clear rear lense kit for under £40 ( including shipping ) from a guy on eBay. He has 7 kits left as far as i know. I can give you the item number if anyone is interested.

Just a thought.

Dont know how to put pics up but if you go on eBay and enter item number,

it should take you straight there. I could mail you the page if preferred.

Looks interesting. Couple of questions though:

What did they charge you for shipping to the UK?

Have you received yours yet?

If so, what do you think of the product?

Cheerz

Looks good and cheap too. Is it legal in this country to change the red top half of the lense to clear as well or would u be pulled very quickly and slapped with a ticket?

Hey guys Im in canada and I just got that same kit off ebay as well. But I am a little concerned with preheating my oven to 400 degrees and putting my very expensive taillights near it for 7 minutes....kinda scary ya know

Sorry gentlemen I scaned the instructions that came with the kit into my computer but Im just too computer stupid to figure out how to place it here for you all to read

I got this kit as well but won't be using it as I'm putting quad lights in now instead (SMW2 not SMW1).

400degrees. DAMMM that's hot. my oven only goes up to 230 :o

400F maybe? ;)

yes exactly 400f sorry... being from canada I should be using metric as well lol

I love the look of these, but i think i will just have to go for 99 spec ones, as i cant even cook food in an oven so i can guess what will happen if i was to put my tail lights in there!!!:D

Let me tell you guys something, all this kit is are two pieces of plastic that looks to be cut from the light covers they use on 2 foot by 4 foot flourscent light fixtures.....very cheesy, yet still a cheap way of getting clear rear lights, I was dissapointed when they arrived.

Hi Guy,

I didn't intend to sell it because my missus bought it. But someone has already asked if I would sell it to them about 2 mins after I put the quad light post up. So I'm affraid they are sold. However if it falls through for whatever reason you'll be the first to know.

OK, furry Muff!!! I've PM'd AndrewG about his as well.

Not sure about this sticking your lights in the oven business though!!!

I have some of the "prismatic" sheet that those clear lenses are made from, I got it from my brother who is an electrical contractor. It's just flourescent light sheeting. I am gonna do the clear tails in a few weeks time and my question is what's to stop you from clearing out the red lenses as well.

I have seen a few cars with this and I think it looks much better than just the indicators; so why not do it? What are the legal restrictions if any?

What are the legal restrictions if any?

I saw a brand new mini today, and all the back lights were clear, so I'm presuming there are none.

theres probably othing to stop the red lights being white but where do you get red bulbs from?

Red reflectors on the rear are a legal requirement, if you remove the red plastic you'll have to fit some reflectors somewhere else.

hey guys its 10 pm and Im right in the middle of doing my clear corner lens it was scary putting my lights on the oven but it worked they came apart just hope they go back together as easy got tar all over my hands though lol

you wont need to put on reflectors as the reflectors are on the outside and the clear lenses go on the inside so you would have clear lenses plus the original reflectors on the outside !

OLLY.

What a messy job that was, if anyone is going to do it i would highly suggest saving the latex gloves for reassembly, holy frigin tar batman

Hiya drop,

I'm thinking of doing this. What temp & time did you stick them in the oven for?
