Just how much of the dash has to come out to fit the clutch pedal and are the connectors for the switches on it already on the harness somewhere?

I had a right struggle to get the bolt nearest the driover out of the brake pedal and thought the clutch would squeeze in but it looks like I need to take some of the dash out to get it in :(

Any advice? (getting ready for "should have stuck with an auto!") :D

Have to disagree with MAC 1.

I don't see the point of having an automatic sports car (or even a N/A to be honest !!). A TT manual is the only 300zx I would even consider owning. (ducks and runs for cover !!!!! )

My previous cars include westfields, Caterhams, 205 GTi, mini cooper etc. Great drivers cars all and the 300zx is right up there with them in my opinion.

Best of luck.

Martin.

I would have agreed with you if I hadnt been driving auto Z's for the last 3 years.

Both my zeds autobox's are screwed so decided to change one to manual(UK) and repair the SWB's Auto.

Must say I still like the auto . while the manual is a more involving drive it never seems to have the umph you feel when a TT auto kicksdown to first.

I also find I am driving my manual car like an auto

Instead of gearing down I just floor it if fifth and give myself lots of time.

Deffinitely best of both world

Chris, yep unfortunately you have to remove the side pods and then loosen the dash so that you can move it around a bit. I've never had to disconnect it totally, their's enough slack in the cables, just be careful!

I use a long extension to get at the pedal box bolts through where the dash sits.

For the clutch booster, you have to persevere with it. The patience of a saint is needed! The main wiring loom behind the dash has little of no play in it, so just try and work the top flange of the pedal box above it.

Mail me if you need help.

Good luck!
