(First off thanks Mac for your phone roadside assistance)

Was on the A3 saturday and had just had a little go at a RX7, was no means maxxing it out, when quite a bit of smoke came out of the back of the Z. Knowing my luck, first thing I think I've done is blown a turbo but it was transmission fluid leaking onto the exhaust.

Pulled over straight away, looked underneath etc. Quite a bit must have come out judging by the smoke but on looking underneath there is only a drip. I check the level and thats ok, drive to a petrol garage about 2 miles away, park up, go inside and have something to eat. About 20 mins later, pull the car back to see how much has leaked out (onto the ground) and it was a tiny amount, about the size of a 10p piece.

Drove it home, everything ok, changed gear fine etc, etc. I did top up the fluid a few days before and maybe overfilled it if that is of any conseqence?

Any pointers? At my work there is a garage with a shallow pit, its going to to be a pita to clear it all out to get to it but I will of course to have a look underneath, just wondered if anyone had any suggestions? (Iain, you said gasket or feeder pipe?)

Thanks all.

Sounds to me like you need a rolling road. You may only get a leak when the pressure builds up.

Try driving round a car park for a few laps then park up and take a walk round.

Soulds like you were just a little unlucky and maybe the excess you put in just had to find a way out. Now it's out it may not give you any more problmes. Fingers crossed for you mate.

sorry to hear of your probs mate. Only thing I can say is a very small amount of oil dropped onto a hot eaxhaust will create a bucket load of smoke, so the leak, or overflow may not be as big as you think

I used to get loads of smoke from under mine. It was only a small drip of PS fluid but you'd think gallons of the stuff was coming out.

Traced the leak to a banjo connector down by the alternator. Nipped it up and haven't had a problem since.

Good luck!
