Hi,

I am new to the site having just purchased a 1992 300zx manual TT.

Having previously owned a kit car based on very old technology, I think this will be a bit beyond me!!, so can anybody recommended a reasonable/reliable mechanic in South East London for any work I might need doing.

Also, is there a Haynes manual for any bits I might attempt myself?

Cheers,

Andy

Welcome to the forum! :)

There isn't a Haynes manual for the Z32 but there is an online one, the address of which is on my flaptop at home, so unless someone posts it for me, I'll put it up when I get back.

There's also AndyP's excellent site : here.

Now all you need to do is subscribe and post pictures of your Zed! :D ;) :D

Happy motoring. :)

Hi Andy

Not many good garages/mechanics round our way that I know of. You may want to take a look at Abbey Motorsport (http://www.abbeymotorsport.co.uk/) who are just outside London (can be expensive though). It really depends what you want doing (general servicing or performance mods). Abbey are better for mods IMO.

The online manual that Ajay mentioned is here: http://www.300zx.co.uk/cgi-bin/manual.cgi

HTH!

Hi everyone, and thanks for the welcome. I havent got any pictures of my Z yet, but once I have some I will post them onto the site.

Thanks also for the on-line manual.

At the moment I am looking for general servicing rather than mods.

James, I am between Charlton and Woolwich in SE London.

Andy,

If its just for servicing, why not try your local Nissan dealer? That's who I used when I had my 300ZX.

There are alot of guides and step-by-step stuff to servicing around. You should try and do as much as poss yourself. Its so much more rewarding, saves you money and you get to know your Z more.

And unless you've heard good reports about your local Nissan dealer then I wouldn't touch them.......that is just my opinion of course!

Ah.......near Makro?

James, yep, just mile ro two from Makro, was in there yestrday actually!!

Cor a local!! Welcome!! :D

I'm just up the road from Woolwich Arsenal station!

re: Servicing:

Since about 1998 I've mainly used SE Nissan in Maldon in Essex. Do a search on here as many people have had bad experiences with them (though many people are very happy with them at the same time)

I would say currently the customer service is poor (keeping you informed etc etc) and the turnaround equals a long wait! But Pete at SE is a very nice chap with a wealth of knowledge on the Z32 and other Nissans.

SE Nissan: 01621 858856

For my last service I used Jeff at Zedworld, again do a search as many people have good and bad things to say.

Again I found Jeff to be a nice chap and willing to help out. I had no issues with my service and no cause for complaint.

Once more, just incase, please do a search for other members opinions for the companies listed above.

There is a Nissan trained mechanic called Darren who was based in Kent. But other members will have to jump in here with contact details, as I have only met him, not had any work done by him.

There is a member on here called Vijay, he knows of a chap in NW london who I believe does all his service work. So it maybe worthwhile giving him a shout.

re: Nissan Dealers - I only used the Nissan dealer in Peckham, I stopped using them after one service as they didnt really have a clue, they have since closed down. I'm not sure of the current local dealer to the Charlton/Woolwich area. But like many Z owners onhere I would rather take my Zed to a known specialist\club recommendation rather than a Nissan Dealer.

Hope this helps,

Trev

Hey you guys are only minutes away from me! Fancy meeting up sometime?

Try Birchwood Nissan 01622 716777 - based in Ayelsford, Maidstone. This is where the aformentioned Darren works but ....he's their Master Technician and the only one of a dozen mechanics they have that know Zs. So not only is it expensive, £200+ for an A service, you have to wait a while too.

Phil.

PS - They are also a Daewoo dealer....

Hi,

Darren is available for work outside of garage hours, and I think you will find he is cheaper than Nissan rates!
