I think its just the way 'sunbeds' has come over saying......I've been shafted, he's done me, its all his fault..........No, its half his fault (if he DID know about the problems!!?) and half your fault for not getting it checked out properly.

Thats NOT to say all of us don't feel bad for him cos we do. And being taken for a ride leaves a horrible taste in your mouth.

Ajay, tell me something......you've blown a second set of turbos...is that correct?.....already:rolleyes: I dont think this guys as, should i dare say to a Mod, stupid as you to be goin and throwing money down a pot hole for no apparant reason!

Incorrect. :p

One set went on the red Zed which was repaired under warranty.

This set - on a DIFFERENT ZED - has gone because they were stock and couldn't cope with the boost that the car is running. I did not up the boost, or install the turbos. They were on the car when I bought it 2 months ago and yes, new turbos were on the cards for the future in order to cope with the boost. They were originally replaced 3 years ago...still not by me.

So, please get facts correct before typing.

Aaron, do urself a favour and read the thread in general.....it's also got 'possibly' shafted turbos...again dont know for sure....

Oddly enough, I've read that one too..

dont know about u, and dont gimmi all that sarc'y crap,

Ironic - your posts come across as quite highly sarcastic..

lets go bk to school shall we aaron:

I could, but personally I learnt all I needed to know when I was there the first time. How to construct a proper sentence in English was one of them...

1, the car was NOT in a1 nick when he sold i

2, box went...cant say its the previous owners fault 4 sure

True - but in the used car market the rule of buyer beware is king. If it wasn't in A1 nick, well, it's up to the buyer to spot that. Although, yes, if it isn't then the person selling can be taken to court over it. If the situation is that bad, perhaps Mr Sunbed could do that?

3, rad goes....shit loads of radweld.....eemmmm lets think wat do u think mate

No disputing that one - although you ought to be able to see it through the rad cap, given that's the only way of getting the stuff into the system on the Z.. And having done that myself (on a Bluebird that ended up getting crushed, don't worry - not sold to some poor punter, I couldn't bring myself to do that!), it gets everywhere..

4, Turbos on their way out

If they were on their way out, and a garage has told him this without dismantling them, then he should have either a) been able to see it himself, or b) taken someone knowledgeable with him. If he did neither, then sorry, but it's largely his own fault.

5, he could not have had much work donr to it

And?

6, Sunbeds2002 said he paid 'top dollar'...we dont know how much yet

Also very true - he could have paid £5k, he could have paid £15k.. If he paid £15k then I have a lot more sympathy, if he paid £5, well, thats the going rate for an 'average' car, which almost certainly will have something go wrong on it in the first six months - it could cost £10 to fix, it could cost £5000.

7, GET THE POINT!

I got the point perfectly, thanks. No need to shout.

Dont get sarcastic mate, ive got enough dosh for me not to woory bout shite(not bragging so start quoting me, jus making a point) ....i just dont like good, every day people taken 4 a ride!

Well bully for you. I've remortgaged twice to keep mine on the road.

And one thing we do know for certain - we don't know if he was 'taken 4 a ride'. We probably never will - none of us have seen the car, and none of us saw it in the state it was in when it was purchased. We weren't there, and we don't know what was said between the two parties who made the contract of purchase.

The 300 might have been 30k+ 10yrs ago but now its apprx 4-10k....enough 4 the average working class,so dont kid urself....it aint no Lamborghini

I never said it was, although I think it was Warren who made the point about it's price - however, it probably does cost as much as a Lambo to run!

I never realised you were stupid, Ajay.. You hide it well ;)

This isn't worth argueing over.

At the end of the day we don't know, and probably never will know what the previous owner knew about what was wrong with the car.

Its just bad luck.

Apology accepted.

However, in future if you wish to make a point, you'll find that reasoned communication is a better method than insults to / about an unknown person.

joking, seriously though i am.

You're right James - we almost certainly never will..

I've been ripped off almost every time I've bought a car (with only two exceptions really, my Renault 19, and my latest Z).. And every time I've put it down to being my own fault for rushing into things.. Although in hindsight, the owners could also have been a little more forthcoming ;)

Apart from the garage that sold me the Bluebird - they got shut down for peddling dodgy motors.. :D Justice.. mwahahaha. Ahem.

And Ajay - of course you can't drive.. We all know women can't drive ;) (Quickly legs it before Ajay and the rest of the women come and beat him to a pulp..

Although some people would tell you I might enjoy that..)

In all seriousness, it took me 3 years to figure that out :D Probably makes me pretty stupid actually!

But then I realised Ajay was harder than me, and could beat me up.. I soon learnt the error of my ways ;)

Just think how much more we could have got lost if I was driving too! :D

Hi,

My wife and I have just read your thread and feel really sorry to hear about your woes. We both think it's disgusting that someone can sell you a car with problems pending. I would doubt that such major problems especially gearbox was unknown to the original owner. Perhaps it bears out the problem of buying a car privately. Something that I have very rarely done.

Can you not convince your wife to keep the car and repay the joint funds in time, or borrow the money. It's such a pity to have to spend all that money and then sell it without any benefit.

We really hope you will be able to sort things out.

Geoff.

Bad luck m8.

I've had me Z for aboot 2 months now and thankfully nothing has gawn badly wrong...yet!!

She idles quite high, smells of fuel on startup, brakes creak when used, theres a clunkin noise comin from rear wheels when i go over potholes, glove box wont stay shut, i think the auto box is on the way out cause if i floor it she'll get to 100 km/h and refuse to change unless i back of the throttle a bit, the drivers side door lock wont lock from the outside. oh yeah and some bugger nicked me fag lighter

But in fairness i knew aboot most of these faults and negotiated a fair price for her neways. And if im honest im lookin forward to fixin her up and i guess im luckier than most as i have a daily driver and a workshop to use so if she did go tits up tommorow (sp?) it wouldn't be too bad, but thats just temptin fate now!!!

Good luck and hope it works out for you.

Pete

P.S. YEY me first post!

Welcome Pete!

Where abouts in North Devon bud? I'm up in Woolacombe as aften as poss.......when there's surf! Was going this weekend but its only 0-1 ft. :(

Sup!

Live just south of barnstaple nice location for the coast :D I mainly windsurf so surf aint critical for me just more fun!!

Where did you get your forecast from cause i've seen reports for 2-4ft going 3-5ft on sat and 3-5ft going 3-4ft on sun, but i guess it depends on what the low is going to do!!

And you probably want more or less guaranteed surf if your comin from Beckenham!!

Sorry guys managed to get off topic guess that happens when you have too many hobbies!! :D

Pete

Is the garage that has diagnosed the problems really qualified or experienced enough to work on a 300ZX? Are they a specialist or just the usual grease monkey garage round the corner?

I would get a second opinion before parting with any money!!
