Warren,

it's not the wiring on your car. Your exhaust is making the car lean to the right, thus starving the left bank of the engine of any fuel. Get another exhaust, LOL.

2) There is a little valve over the right hand side of the engine , near the battery I think. Press that and fuel squirts out (in your face). I think that can be used to measure the fuel pressure, but I presume you don't use an ordinay tyre pressure gauge otherwise it will fill up with petrol.

Replacing the wiring harness is a big job...(if you leave the engine in the car)

The harness comes together with the injector-connectors, VTC-connectors and some other bits & pieces..

1. http://home.swipnet.se/e-solutions/IdleTech2.html

2. ECU gives error code 21 or (temporarily) swap your PTU with another one and see if it cures your problem.

Warren,

Replacing the Harness is a masso job frown.gif - and expensive - you can try just replacing the connectors to the injector tho - they get very hard and brittle and are well easy to break when removing them.

If you have a look for Z Vikings(Maciej) Site he has a tech page on replacing the Injector harnesses. If you are dropping cylinders now and again this could be a solutions.

The check Fuel Pressure i would tap a Pressure guage via a T-Section into the lines at different places in the system - Like Before and after the Fuel Filter( before will give you a good idead as to the Fuel Pump strenght and delivery fromt the tank) , the FPR and the Damper - this will give you and idea of where the pressure is dropping. Oh yeah dont forget to Releave pressure in the system first or you will get and eye full

Hope that helps bud.

is there a way of checking the error code on the ecu without a diagnostics machine?

Oh and can you spline in or replace the connectors to the coils, as i suspect that is my problem

Yes on both counts make you can just splice in New connectors and wire to the coils - Nissan sell the connectors with a small length of cable for a hideous price.

To check the Error codes you can just do the ECU diagnostics - Check the Tech section on TTZD.com or TT.net of the full procedure and how to rest the codes !
