Which is a good all round tyre, (one with good wearing also) and does anyone know the cheapest place in the Midlands (not too far from Derby) to get them.

Thanks

Well I will only put Eagle F1's on my car.

I sweart by them, do a search on this forum and you'll find loads of tyre sites on the web that we previously recommended.

Stay away from minor branded cheap tyres. They tend to last the longest but have virtually no grip.

Ditto

Dave

But if you get Eagle, make sure you check the tread on them. As good as they maybe, they dont last forever. ;)

Thanks everyone

I think I will stay clear of Eagles, I want my tyres to last more than 6 months

John

I have had two sets of F1's on the Z and they have lasted the longest of any tyre, 16,000 last time, and they have the best road holding of any tyre I have ever fitted.

Try http://www.mytyres.net they are V.cheap.

Well if you put shit tyres on it mate, you'll be lucky if your Z last's 6 months. Trust me, you got to put decent rubber on them.

I did not say I was going to put shit tyres on it, but there are better all round tyres than the F1's. Lets face it, you dont drive every day, going to work, going to spermarket, as if your on the race track, get real.

Michelin, pirelli's or Continental's are much more practical.

I do.

I use Toyo Proxes T1-S.

Quite probably as good as the F1s but a bit cheaper.

Excellent in the wet or dry.

Falken FK451's might suit you as they are supposedly okay and are pretty cheap.

I have Dunlops (275/35/18) Rears and Michelin Pilot Fronts and these both brands are the nuts IMHO:)

Easy Fella !!! :D

Didn't mean to insult you, just didn't want you to wrap it round a lamp post :D. But then I've seen the previous cars that you've owned in the "how did you get here" thread, so I guess you can handle it :D

I use falken

86quid each for fronts,

good for the price and very stable in the wet, the fronts lasted me about 9k and the rears have lasted 10k so far :)

BF Goodrich Profiler, having 4 fitted tomorrow;)I wont use anything else!

Hi Mac,

Just been checking out your car pics, that is one absolutely fantastic car. Every detail looks true perfection, I especially like the details in the engine bay.

The hours (and money) that you have obviously invested in your car have been well worth it.

Happy, safe motoring Mac.

Thank's John;)

I am pleased someone likes it,there is a few on here that seem to think a stock one is worth more money:D:D:D

Yeah, I know what you mean.

A car dealer always gives the the bullshit that because its not stock its not worth as much. (even though he will still try to sell it for more than a stock one)

But to an enthusiast, a car like yours will be worth loads more than a stock one, and lets face it, if you decided to sell it, I'm sure there would be loads of enthusiasts standing in line to buy yours.

LOL - Not too sure John Newcombe would agree with you on that one, but hey you're a newie and wouldn't even know who John is/was.

As for the Eagle F1s, they came out top of the extensive EVO group tyre test last year so, your comment of better all round tyres may be a little unsubstantiated, as they were scored on many different factors from tyre wear to wet handling to lateral G etc. etc. So that's pretty much 'all round'. :D

I've got Eagle F1 GS D3s on at the moment after a set of GS D2s, I can honestly say they last the distance and offer a level of grip that I have found unsurpassed.

Thanks everyone...........you have convinced me!

I have just located a pair of Goodyear Eagle F1's at a tyre place about 8 miles from me. Balanced, fitted for £102 each, thats a damm good price isnt it ?

John

Price sounds good, what size is that for ? and is that including VAT ?

Just got back from having those F1's fitted on the back - wow! what a mean looking tread design!!

He even balanced the 2 existing Continentals on the front.

Total cost (incl vat) £204 , not bad for 2 F1's
