My local importer suggests that I have my car undersealed to help protect it against the road salt in winter.

The cost id £85 + VAT.

Seems like a good idea. Does this sound about right cost wise?

I assume jap imports are not undersealed at the factory due to the fact that they don't salt the roads in Japan.

All the best.

Martin.

I think later ones do have underseal on but you better get it done anyways. 2 years with no underseal will cause a lot of damage.

why dont you do it yourself at £2.99 a can of spray underseal you only need 3 at the most i have done my zed and my trans-am just dont spray bushes and exhaust or any electrical items...pretty straight forward...;)

that seems a bit expensive my importer (newera imports) only charged me £45 plus vat 2 underseal my car but when they looked underneath it already been done

Faisal, you don't by any chance have a yellow bodykitted zed do you? Just I noticed you in NW London and I was going through Hendon past Middlesex Uni once and saw a cooool Zed yellow with bodykit the full works, it got lots of attention!

According to an article in Jap Performance, both UK and J-spec cars have the same underseal protection.

I would however advise having it done for extra protection on an import or a UK car, which could now be 14 years old.

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Would concur with Richard there, no difference between the underseal on UK and import zeds, it is a good idea to have both checked every 2 to 3 years to guard against damaged underseal letting in the dreaded, typically £45 should cover having a clean and retreat, if a car has no underseal and it requires then fully sealing it would cost more..maybe this is what has been quoted for. ( not needed)

I did mine when I got it last March. The worst part was the mud poultices that had built up under the arches. 2 gallons of waxoyl went into every nook and cranny and the high impact areas where treated with Waxoyl underseal. It cost about £45 all in.

Eveytime it gets washed, it gets the inside of the wheelarches hosed out as well.
