I need to take my car to Zedworld (Bristol to Tamworth) next week and leave it there for a few days, to sort out a power steering problem (and replace the front brake pads).

Being a weekday, I've struggled to find someone to 'usher' me their and chauffeur me home. Being a member of The AA, I'm considering the best method of utilising my 'Home-Start relay Relay-Plus' membership.

My options are:

1. Drive the car there, then contact The AA and ask them to take me home, then drop me to collect the car on Saturday.

2. Ask The AA to transport the car there then deliver it back to me on saturday.

The car has not broken down, but steering and brake problems, and the fact that Z specialists are few and far between, should justify one of the above...????

Anybody used their membership in either of these ways???

What's the best way of going about it???

if the vehicle hasnt broken down & its just booked in for repair work then i very much doubt they would provide a door to door delivery service!!

I am surprised you need to take it all the way to Zedworld for those sort of problems.

JeffTT (zedworld) is good for specialist areas tuning, setups, Belt change etc.

I have used him for belts and service, but it is a long way to go, unless you combine with a day out at Drayton Manor which is next door, which I did, great fun!

I have used several good ones around here ( Bristol) for run of the mill stuff.

Such as Protechnical in Nailsea- specialist in all jap cars especially imports.

QAS in Filton, brilliant at all things electrical and autobox's

I am sure they could sort out power steering probs.

And any reasonable garage can do the brake pads.

I use Motormend in Kingswood for all my 'normal ' servicing.

Drive about a mile from your house, disconnect something the AA man won't find, don't know much about Z's but someone here will, ring them, say its broken down and get it towed to garage!

Did it in my old car once, I'd forgotten my wallet and had no fuel for the 100 mile trip home, also know someone who's going to do it on the way back from billing to save fuel costs!

Drive the 1/4 mile away from your house, ring the AA and request a flatbed straight away. Something like suspected head gasket blown will ensure they dont argue. :D

Yeah a mate of mine wanted an extra 'night out' in Leicester once on a Sunday, but had to get back for work on the Monday. So he disconnected something unobvious on the car, got pissed, and got a lift home so he could have a snooze.
