Just taken delivery of my Azev A's and they look good.

I ordered an Offset of ET 30mm for the front (18" x 8.5"), but they have been delivered as ET 26mm. Azev's own site quotes 30 for our 300ZX and the distributor recommended this size (although now is saying all sorts of things and I'm not impressed - however the sizes/order was confirmed by fax).

They have been offered up and do just clear the caliper.

Any advice on what I should do, or check?

The distributor is DT Motorsport, and they say they have just supplied a couple of other people on (this) forum - if you read this could you say or send me a PM?

Thanks, Geoff

As long as the clearance to calipers is around 2 or 3mm you are ok,but why not send em back they should of got it right:(

Thanks Tony, I would estimate the clearance to the caliper is about 2mm, whereas the standard wheels had a clearance of about 5mm.

I am right in thinking the ET 30 would have given me more clearance, am I? (The distributor was trying to tell me different). If I am correct then the ET30 would sit the wheel an extra bit out of the arch? (I must say the ET26 sits just right for me and not outside the top line of the arch).

**** See later post - my assumption was not correct ****

Geoff,I will find out what mine are tomorrow.IMHO I would send them back because at a later date if you decide to fit nice big discs and calipers those wheels wont clear:(

Good one Mac,did not think of that, suppose 5mm spacers would help if upgrading calipers, even then may be too close, and i dont think going up to 10mm would be advisable:eek: ;)

Thats a lot more than mine!! ;)

Hi,

Geoff, Remember i spoke to you before placing the order from DT Motorsport. Well, I had a delivery about 3 weeks ago but only got them fitted yesterday (as my car was in the garage having a respray and picked it up yesterday). I haven't yet checked anything about the caliper clearence but one thing is noticeable that the Rear 18x10 sit outside the arches about an inch which doesn't look bad at all but that's not the way i would have wanted them.

I told Dave (DT Motorsport) the offset i wanted before placing the order (and said this is what i specifically want) and also said that I could have my Rear arches flared without a problem if they will sit outside the arch and they advised that IT WON'T HAPPEN and said they have sold shit loads of them to zedders and they perfectly sit inside the rear arches without getting a wide arch kit etc. Now that my car is been resprayed - getting them flared would cost a fortune. Front ones are fine and don't stick out of the arches but didn't check the caliper clearence!

Now I'm getting Brembo Calipers/Discs fitted in couple of weeks so what shall I do??? Also How do I check what offset I have been delivered (they are on the car)?

Ian, Tony, and all you guys please advise :(

I just fitted Brembo's under my Azev A's last night and the clearance seems to be the same as with the stock calipers.

They sit further out on the bigger disks so you need 17's or 18's but the gap between the inside of the wheel and the caliper appears to be more or less the same?

Hi Ammar,

If you remove the centre cap you should see a coding that is stamped on the rim by the manufacturer, between the wheel nut holes - all the letters & numbers are made up by a series of dots. My fronts have A851826, 114.3N, ET26 - the coding is fairly obvious being type A, 8.5"J, 18" rim with 26 offset, then the wheel nut circumference 114.3, and the ET 26 offset again.

Would be interested in knowing what you have.

Fyi, the rears are A101818, 114.3N, ET 18 - I have 49mm spacers to position for the wide arches.

Thanks to everybody for their help.

Geoff

Geoff: I haven't checked my rears as i'm still at work but will do when i get home but have spoken to DT Motorsport and they said my rears are ET23 which is what all Z should have without the wide arse kit and the wheels should sit inside the arches but they DON'T!

will let ya know when i have found out tomorrow mate

Chris: Many Thanks for all the help mate

Found an interesting site:

http://toy4two.home.mindspring.com/offset.html

Feeding in :-

Current Wheel Width 8.5" Current Wheel Offset 26mm

New Wheel Width 8.5" New Wheel Offset 30mm

Replied:-

Your new wheel will have the following characteristics:

The clearance from stut housing to the inside of the wheel will be 4mm LESS

The outside edge of the wheel will RETRACT in towards the body by 4mm

This implies DTMotorsport have done me a favour as the advertised 30mm offset (Azev site) would have the Spokes hitting the Caliper.

Working through the following diagram also confirms this theory:

http://www.comp.co.uk/pics/diagram_01_new.gif

The mystery to me is why DTMotorsport did not explain this in any of my contacts?

I hope this may help others.

Geoff

My thanks to those who have helped me with this. MAC1 confirmed he has 27mm (offset, that is!), and I see ChrisC also has this size (see his Brembo caliper post and picture). Ammar and I have 26mm (which should give us both another 1mm clearance from the front caliper).

Not sure about the rears but my fronts have E27 scribbled inside the centres and they fit fine over R33 Brembos and 330mm disks.

Seems nobody knows the exact size! LOL

My Front ones are ET26 and the Rear ones are ET23
