Does anyone localish to myself have a programmer for the ecu chip?

Having taken some advice (thanks PH) I am looking for someone to raise the speed limit (and possibly the rev limit) on my ECU.

Obviously am happy to pay for this to be done.

Any offers??

Cheers

Jock

Is it a completely standard ECU (ie. has a glued in EPROM and no socket)?

I presume so, I have not checked, due to the fact of being caught up under the dash.

I realise this will probably mean it being sdesoldered and put into a socket

There's people here who've had them de-soldered, but personally, I think the easiest way is to destroy the one in there: cut all the pins, prise out the ceramic then desolder the remaining legs. Sounds a bit violent, and means you'll need another EPROM as well as the socket, but you're less likely to rip out holes or break tracks.

I hate socketing ECU's. Someone on here'll probably do it for you tho. Come on, hands up!

Altering the speed and rpm limit is easy enough. You'd expect the sort of nice person who's gonna socket your ECU will also have an EPROM programmer.

Or, if you fail to find someone here, try a local TV/VCR repair shop. Take an image of the modified EPROM with you on a floppy.

You know the next question is coming right?

Where do I get an image of the modified Eprom?

Cheers

i have a collecton of EPROM images for the zed, both US, and Jap and a few moded ones, and can solder! but i have not got a programmer!

Asked nicely, several people could supply standard Nissan EPROM contents with the speed and rev limiter altered. And I expect they'd supply that data free of charge.

I can do it for you (program + socket the chip) , but you'll need to send your ECU over to Holland.

Contact me if you're interested.
