In the above film when paul walker brings his skyline to the race (at the beginning), his car releases what seems to be steam from the car when he has revved it, like blow off valves release air - what is this and hows it done and most of all can i do it on my 300zx TT as it looks the tits?

Cheers,

Smoothyboy

I would be a little surprised at tits squirting out steam.

Where abouts did this fabulas steam come from?

It was from a vent just infront of the front wheel on both sides.

I have a couple of images from the film, if you give me your email address I will send them to you.

Its a purge valve for the nitrous, squirts out releasing any air in the system !

Either that or a dry ice spray onto the intercooler(s).;)

Nope its defo nitrous purging.

Man what is becomming of the owners of these cars

i suggest you get nitrous and traction controll and use the the gas with launch control :D would look awesome ;)

That film was not as good as the first one. The Skyline is only in it for the first 5 mins then they go onto an EVO and some other hairdresser convertable mitsubishi thing, who chose those they may as well used XR3i's ???

mind you the quote of the film was about the EVO...

"Where did you get that? out of a cereal packet"

LMAO:D

Could have been hazy light conditions caused by the LED wiper jets(more than likely);) creating the illusion.

Only saw a quick clip on TV but it looked like water sprays coming from the intercooler vents to me.

It's probably the car overheating as the FMIC is blocking the airflow to the radiator :D:D:D

I'm surprised that it never occurred to you all that it might be a special effects supervisor running amok on a completely standard GTR, just to get all the anoraks out there arguing!

:D :D :D :D :D

I switched on the telly last night mid way through James Bond "Tomorrow never dies" to see a helicopter hovering just above the ground although it's rotors were at 60 degrees to the horizon!

- Not even the basic laws of physics hold back these guys, so I wouldn't get too up tight about the Steaming Skyline!

Yeah, I wondered about that too !

Also, remember the bit where Bond and the gurlie fell out the window whilst handcuffed together ? They grab the ropes off some dirty great banner which tears all the way down the side of the building and fortuitously stops at the bottom to break their fall (ripping their arms out their sockets no doubt!). Anyway, hanging on the ropes they then swing back and forth until they each kick in a window pane and simultaneously crash through a couple of sheets of (sugar) glass into the office inside - still handcuffed. Well the odd thing was they went either side of a window frame member and still had the handcuffs on the other side. Paul Daniels would have been proud of that ! LOL

Yeah!

Sounds like you're one of those people who watch action movies and shout at the TV (just like me!)

- have you had a scream at XXX yet!

LOL!

Actually I very seldom watch films because I get bored too quickly and always seem to have more important things to do. However, when I do watch them I spend more time looking for continuity errors than following the story.

Anyway, who gave those Roman Centurions digital watches ? LOL

Quite sick really!

Anyway back to Bond:

Did you see when he did the HALO jump out of the plane?

On the way down he had 2 oxygen tanks mounted out to his sides. When he went into the water they were magically fixed together in the middle of his back like normal scuba gear!

Sup!

I think you will find that it is a Nitrous/CO2 Intercooler cooling system!!

Pete

I have my own SFX company.... and Nigel is probably right...

Doing it every day...

I can't believe that anyone would ever try and figure out what the skyline's smoke was?

It was probably dry ice expulsion - and if not a digital smoke-routine created on an some 3D system

I have them, and I could make a skyline look like a zed with Tony Blair driving - with the smoke! - and I promise you, you could not tell...!!!
