do anyone know where is the best to respray my 300zx arround Hampshire? and Normally how much will it cost? I am going to buy a new spoiler, do anyone tell me is fitting very expensive, but someone told me that I can fit the spoiler by myself, is it true?

Thanks for all replies

Don't respray a car unless it's really bad, definitely don't respray a differrent colour ( it's resale value will be ucked). Fitting a new spoiler depends on your ability, paint it to match what you've got. Re-painted cars are a nightmare. No-one knows whats under the paint and for sure it's not as good as the factory finish.

Peter why are you saying don't respray ?.

I don't intend to sell my car and so I'm not too fussed about the value of my car. I do however want my car to look how I want it to look, so if it looks a little shabby then I'll get it resprayed.

I feel that a respray not only tidies the car up, but it also allows you to give your car your personal touch.

SMW1,

Yep, no problem with your point of view. But what you also would want to consider maybe is the 'classic' value of your car. When I say 'value' I do not mean a monetery value but rather a (wasn't that a great car I want an original) future value. I'm not( I am compared to what else I can buy) really a 300ZX fanatic, it's too fast , too thirsty but, no I've changed my mind again, I am 300ZX fan but I think it's nearly 240Z territory. You can buy a ucked about, messed about, lowered, upgraded, re-painted, for about £4000 buy an 'original' car , you can't, can't can't O.K if youv'e got

£50 000 you might.

i dont see any harm in painting your car, i my self have a red rather badly faded zed, i hit a fox the other day and it damaged the front bumper that was already shaby, u will never match a faded car so the only way to go is full respray.

think of it more of a restoration of a future classic, after all the main job of paint is to protect the rust prone metal underneath, many classic cars have full restoration back to there original state and have no detrimental effect to monetary value, on cars of these ages unless its been stored from new in a warehouse will never be factory new. people that buy cars to store them need there head looking at, what a waste.

back to the original topic, the best thing to do is look up some local paint shops and have a look at the work they produce, the kinda of environment they use etc. use your judgement and get lots of quotes.

I was going to keep mine stock, but in light of the recent attack on my paintwork, it has given me a kick up the arse to personalise my zed.

Mines going to get a full respray, now just got to scrape the cash together, just need to find a new rear spoiler, 99 spec front end, and decide on what vents to have.

In the long run that little vandal t**ser has done me a favour i spose.

Still going to hurt him if i find him though!!;)

Dickens,

If you're looking for somewhere more local (although PPS do seem to come highly recommended) then I've used Whites Accident Repair, just outside of Farnborough, to paint and fit my new front bumper. Nothing special to say about the service, but there's no faulting the colour match - 100% spot on :)

Once you've done your personalised mods the car may be nicer to you but you'll reduce the value when selling to someone who's personal tastes are different.

Or increse the appeal to someone whos tastes are the same!!!

I think the main thing is not many of us are thinking of selling.....ever!!!!

I want a lotus esprit TT in a couple of years, but cant see me parting with the zed though, If i can afford it ill keep the two!!

Who gives a crap about any one elses opinion anyway you mod your car for your own tastes not anyone elses. If your woried about re-sale value and want old duffers in cardigans to comment on how origional your car is cos it has the origional floor mats then you should be buying a E-type Jag not a 300zx. I never understand the keep the mileage down and keep it stock view, why bother it just means that someone else gets the benefit after you get rid of it.

Drive em and enjoy them is what I say.

thanks for eveyone, the information you provided is very useful, I am going to do the research which local paint shop is good for mine. Also I have got another question, as my windows pillar trim (rubber arround the trim) is dried out and broken already, and I tryied to contact z-centre and nissan to buy the new one, but nissan replied me that they don't sell it, do anyone know where can I get it from? where can I fit it after I have got it?

Thank you very much indeeded

Reduce the value? what value the Z market crashed 2 years ago.

MAC 1,

I decided to respray and do the leather trim kit after I have seen your perfect car, it's great, mate, can you please tell me where did you mod your interior, as I am very appreciated your car, I really want the interior of my car as similar as yours. Also please answer my last question, as I have seen that you replied someone else about the windows pillar trim (rubber), I have no idea where can I buy and fit them. Please give me some suggestion or advise if you have time.

thank you very much.

can you please leave your email address, so that I can send my photo to you, as I really want to replace it first before I do any mod.

s'funny, i thought C&A was imbroidered into ladies knickers so they know which way round to put them on  :D

Dickens,

You can try andy Z for the spare part. He has a section in this forum.

Or send me a picture to admin@300zx-mods.co.uk and I'll se if I can work out what bit you are talking about and its proper name.

(welcome to the forum by the way. Have fun :D )

for £6 you get the small bit at the rear of the targa panels

if you want to replace the rest of it. I.e. the windscreen bits and the targa panels. it's going to cost you ....

Windscreen Pillar Trim £29.00 ea

Targa Panel 2+2 Trim £15.00 ea

Roof Trim £6.00 ea

obviously you'll need two of each so that's a total of $100 +VAT.

I know as I just bought some myself.

I'm going to keep the old ones as they seem to be chrome under the plastic, so I'm going to polish them up.

thanks for your reply, do you know how much the fitting cost? as I have been the Branch of Nissan, but they told me they won't do that for me as it is a big job (you need to remove the windows completely.

PS. would you like to tell me when you get my picture?

Remove the windows ?.

They really don't know what they are talking about mate !!!

It will take you less than 10 minutes per side to do.
