Hi, I am looking to buy a 300 TT or a Toyota Soarer 2.5TT/4.0 V8, and cant decide on which one!! Could do with some help, tell me about performance, reliability and running costs. I have a Alfa 156 V6 just now, but its s*it*, too slow, unreliable and thirsty, so I need a new toy! Please help me....cheers Charlie

Lexus Soarer looks like a high tech potato IMHO smile.gif

The Z is V.Fast... but can be unreliable (with horrific parts costs) and probably twice as thirsty as your Alfa.

Apart from that they are superb!

If its sheer fun and admiration your after by almeans buy a Z32tt. However the potential costs of buying a dud, or just running a supercar without reguard or respect will cost you serious sovs.

This forum is so helpful & informative to keep your toy in good shape, you can't help but buy one.

I suggest you buy off the forum or at least take (hire) a member to come with you.

As a previous post said 186mph (std) is a lot of toy to be proud off.

And we all are!

Hi again, thanks for the replys so far guys. When I said my Alfa was thirsty, I meant I felt it thirsty for the performance it gave, and the enjoyment it gave me. I have owned a few performace cars in the past, and understand the costs in running one(sierra RS cosworth, Fiat coupe 20V turbo, Volvo T5R etc) but was after an idea of how reliable they are, average MPG and whats your veiws on a Japanese import ZX300TT??

Average MPG seems to be about 17 around town and 25 on the motorway.

Jap Z's are cheap with generally low milages for their age - Lots of 10 year old cars with only 40000 - 50000 on the clock but unless you can read a Jap service history (if there is one) you will never know the true story. I have a Jap one and had no probs. Not many are manual or have leather though so may need more searching if required.

Most parts are the same - only headlight bulbs are difficult to get hold of through the normal sources. The insurance is not necessarily more but most places do not cover imports so shop around. The 2 seater is not normally available here so may be more to insure. I found A-Plan and Norwich Union Direct to be way cheaper than everyone else. I have vehicle mods and lots of points and a previous ban so £750 as against one quote of £7500 is pretty good!

Nissan dealers rip us off severely and you may as well take it to a Skoda dealer for the amount of knowledge they have on the Z.

Find a specialist in your area.

I know Glasgow is a bad area for Z insurance as when getting a quote from A-Plan the guy miss heard my postcode as G3 instead of HG3 (Harrogate) and the price was over double...

Charlie,

Supra Pete from here at Core first bought a Soarer - It was OK appart from the suspension and steering which were badly Phucked - He tried to get it repaired but apparently 3 of the active Shox were shot - Apparently they are only used on the Soarer and the Mclaren F1 or something and cost 1200 quid each ! The cars are also quiet rare so second hand parts are a mare .

If you want I'll give you Petes mail addy - he is a top bloke just let him know what the score is and dont let him talk you into buying a Supra smile.gif

300TT's are a very realiable super car if you get one in good condition.

Z ya
