If you were being persecuted then yes you would and should. We all have an easy life here and are all very keen to claim our right to these lands because our fathers and our father's fathers did this, that and the other.

Take a look at how easy your life is compared to other places. Then just be thankful at what you've got and try and put a bit back. If you want to use your historical roots here as justification that you're entitled to more than the rest of the world, try and make some amends for your historical roots by helping people out.

Anyway, I'm bowing out gracefully now as I'm not on a mission to convince people of my views, unlike the BNP and, I presume, many of its supporters.

I have a good life. I dont have an easy life.

 

I have debts over £12,000 because I wanted to get a better education. I am trying to get a house now in an ever increasing house market where a 2 bedroom semi will cost me £90,000 and the average wage for University leavers has now come down to £14,000.

 

So with £14,000 a year (Average! Im currently on £7,000) I am meant to pay for a small house at the cost of £90,000, pay off £12,000 debt and save for a pension because teh state one isnt worth anything now. Is that an easy life? I dont think so. I cant put things back as I have virtually nothing for myself.

 

However if I wasnt from this country I would have a house, money and given grants for virtually anything I wanted, new decorations, cars, cloths. Now is that right?

The worry that the bnp feeds on is that there is an endless supply of potential immigrants that wont integrate into this society not the odd wave over time that easliy integrates into a society. The information age means people everywwhere become informed faster of where they might go that's better than where they're at. Ever decreasing transportation costs means the means to get here are coming closer to them.

 

I am all for enabling others to succeed and develop their own countries. I respect those that work hard and contribute. I'm not for unlimited hospitality here though.

Exactly - we in Britain are not simply lucky living here - we built this place with hard work and ingenuity etc. Many countries abroad, the people are happy to simply bum-around in simple ways & spend the time fighting - we aspire to greater things and resent giving the fruits of that work to lazy bums ;)

Have to put a point in. When you say "Welsh", I presume you mean the celtic/ Iceni race? Because I think you will find that the irish and scots fit in there somewhere.

 

As for immigration, the point seems to be that there are two types, those who are economic immigrants and those who are claiming asylum.

 

IMHO there is no reason that we cannot put economic immigrants through the same process that OZ, NZ, Canada etc do by checking that they have something to add to our country and the wherewithall to support themselves and family before allowing entry.

 

The asylum seeking immigrants: while it is right that we as a developed wealthy nation should offer safe haven to those people of the world who are in trouble, under the Geneva convention, they are duty bound to claim asylum in the first safe port. Thus the only people who can legally claim asyum in Britain are those who fly into one of our airports. So, by default, anyone who arrives via boat or train has not followed the requirements of the Geneva convention and cannot claim asylum.

It's not just a problem for us though! Our media blow it into some big hyped jingoistic "Johnny Foreigner is coming to steal all our stuff" headline, but it's a problem throughout the developed WORLD!

 

Did you see the commotion yesterday when some Italian politician wanted the Italian Navy to put off boat loads of asylum seekers/economic refugees from landing, by firing one warning shot accross the bows, and if that doesn't work then sink the bastards?!?

 

The Dutch have a huge problem with immigrants.

 

The French have a huge problem (obviously, but lets not into that!

The Germans have a problem.

 

The Spanish have a problem.

 

Remember the Australians last year? Sent the Navy in to keep ships away from their shores.

We have to make a decision. Are we going to practice the 'good will to all men' philosophy that we are trying to live up to. Or are we going to realise that although its the right thing to do to help your fellow man, we are still not at the right stage of development economically or in our own society to accomplish this? Give it another 50 or so years and we might be there - just. But for now, I think we should be ruthless and slam the door. We're just not ready for it as a species.

I agree - the immigarnts we brought here do have a right to live her and have worked hard (mostly I guess).

I think you will find that most Black Americans are decended from people kidnapped and enslaved - this is also probably true of Black British.
