Evening all,

I have a front end squeek/squeel every time I run over even a small bump in the road.

And after Tony was in the Z on friday, he says he has the very same problem on his Z.

I've poked, proded, bounced, & tried to rattle everything I can.

Still havn't found the problem. Its quite loud, sounds like rubbing of roof tin! if you know what I mean, very high pitch.

Anyone else got this.

Or can tell me where to look.

Mine does this sometimes - but I know what it is, I just can't be arsed fixing it

 

It sounds like it could be your bonnet that is making the noise!!! Check the latch is pulling the bonnet down tightly. Mine only does it when warm so.....

It's the infamous Z bonnet-cricket

 

This should be a quick fix:

Open the hood and on either side (above the headlights) are two rubber stoppers.

Adjust the stoppers (by turning them) so they're a little higher and that should fix the squeek.

Tony you said it might be the bonnet, but on arse bounce test! it seemd ok at stationary.

Still time to go & bugger about in the garage though.

Yes the bonnet is Aluminium, I quite the cricket by spraying the release mechanism at the front with WD40 it last about six weeks then needs doing again.

 

Alternatively turn up the radio :-)

I tink we ned a speling an gramar cheker on the forum.

silence is a "cricket" less bump.

But I found that insulating tape around the bonnet toggle to do the biz best.
