Received camera letter from police today. Dual cariageway around the town 30mph. Sneaky bill taking pics from a van. I was doing 36.. What a joke.

They should speend time pulling joyriders and murderers not 6mph over the limit.

About time the fu*$ing law did their real job catching criminals. Mind you that might mean them actualy having to do some work for once, and we would'nt want them to put them selves out now would we.

My mate the other month was driving down a country lane following a police car doing 42 in a thirty. the coppers put their LED diplay in the rear of the car on to tell my mate to pull over. Once he had pulled over the copper issued him a ticket for doing 42 in a thirty, never mind the fact the police car was doing the same speed with no lights or sirens which is illegal. Bunch of w"*kers!

My friends brother-in-law is a police officer and he was doing 152mph down the motorway trying to beat the office record. He was not answering an emergency.

Wankers

He also takes home the videos from the car to show friends. This is evidence in a crime. What is the betting the video will go missing if it going to be used for evidence!

Even Scotland Yard don't like all these speed cameras, someone sent me this the other day.

London Evening Standard 10/07/01

by Justin Davenport, Crime Correspondent

Scotland Yard has ordered a freeze on the number of speed

cameras in the capital saying that the war on violent crime and

burglary should take greater priority than stopping speeding

motorists.

The stand brings the Yard into direct conflict with national police

policy on speeding with chief constables recently calling for more

cameras on the roads.

Last month the Association of Chief Police Officers warned that

motorists could expect to see at least a tripling of the number of

cameras after a change in Home Office rules which allows forces to

keep money raised from fixed penalties.

Now a senior Yard officer has criticised the policy of collecting

money for speeding offences saying it could alienate the driving

public.

Assistant Commissioner Michael Todd, in charge of Territorial

Policing in London, said he had called a halt to any expansion in the

number of speed cameras in London.

In a move which has the backing of Commissioner Sir John Stevens,

he has ordered traffic police to direct resources at accident

blackspots, particularly those around schools.

Mr Todd said: "We do not believe in pursuing speed enforcement for

the sake of it. I think it could alienate members of the public and

potential witnesses to crimes. It is more appropriate to direct

resources on tackling the crimes that concern Londoners such as

stopping violent crime, protecting people's homes from burglary and

tackling street robbery.

My Mrs. had a copper point his gun(ohhh errrr) in her direction a couple of days ago in a village!

Don't know whether you saw my last post about speeding...Mrs. overheard a conversation in a petrol station. This guy had been done for 73 mph in a 70 zone. Woman driving through a village done for 32 in a 30 zone. WTF is going on?

I just hope that this escalates the public anger in the next few months, and end up fighting back big time like with the fuel crisis! Only problem is that if we were French we wouldn't back down, but being British we tend to give up quite easily! Bit like at sport really...LMAO!

P.S. Mind you, we are good at one thing though, Snooker, until someone pointed out that 99 percent of the snooker playing community comes from the British Isles anyway! Doh!

However, 36 in a 30 is still 20% over the limit. Very easy to do I know. (and don't I know it!)

All this talk of speeding has now made me paranoid. I spend more time looking at my speedo making sure I dont go more than 2mph the limit, that I do looking at the road.

That cant be safe. This will explain the increase in minor accients. To busy looking at the speed.

Stuart

Jeez Timmy where do you Live Belfast !!!

This is Fucked up - Big time - everyone here is well pissed about it... It is pure insanity.

It will take someone doing 30mph to run over a kid while looking at there speedo for them to even think about changing it ! Then a Life will have been needlessly wasted ! Wassup with that - It is pure Greed that is what as now all the fines from Cameras go straight into the Police Budget - That sounds like good business sence - Wish you could buy Shares in my local Police Dept !

Then there is all this talk about that Idiot Max Mosely (head of the FIA ) who wants to make it compulsory for all car to be fitted with Automatic GPS speed controll devices ( like what will be used in F1 next year) - that really will be the end of any fun !

When the idiots that run this country have stopped us enjoying our cars, Drinking and smoking what are we supposed to do then . . . .

Z ya

Nico 91TT - Pissed !

What will we do? Buy ourselves tropical fish and watch them swim around all day. Won't be any point venturing outside. the fun in private transport will have been taken away... they'll then jack up prices of public transport even further, so we'll avoid them all the more till they're as rusty and dangerous as the cars we once enjoyed. Then we'll all spend night after night in front of the computer trying to get our kicks with a driving sim and forcre-feed steering wheel+pedals... (the women are going to love that aren't they)and as we vegitate in the comfort of our own homes, the governtment will see fit to help bump the price of electricity.

I somehow think this country is over-estimating how much crap we're prepared to take. Officials are crossing the line of which the average jo will turn against legislation.

As for it taking someone running over a kid at 30 mph...that wouldn't do it... they'd just use that as an excuse to bring the limit down to 25 and put more 'z-destructive' speed humps in.

In the face of all that is geared towards'Europe' I shall take influence from a well known phone commercial, 'The future's shite... the future's foreign.' biggrin.gif

Wigan Counsil have decided to create a load of mini round-a-bouts and speed humps near where I live. Also a few feet at a time the small grass verg that was there is now a cycle lane. I agree with the cycle lane, but not when the longest stretch is only a few metres before the cyclest has to swerve back into the road.

Having round-a-bouts near houses is suicidal. When you pull up to the round-a-b. you can not see the road to your right because of the trees in peoples gardens or garden fences and walls. You ofter get people just shooting out hoping for the best.

Within 10 metres of this round a bout is a set of speed bumps, I only, and I mean ONLY just low enough for my Z. Within 100 metres there are 3 round-a-bouts and 2 sets of speed bumps, not to mention 3 places where they just narrowed the road for no reason.

I feel sorry for the people who live outside these "Speed caliming devices" The constant noise of cars slowing down and speeding up must drive them mad, not to mention the value of there property going down. Who wants to live facing a mini round a bout?

I could go on, but I doubt there is enough space left on this forum server.

Stuart (Its bad for your health this forum, keeps getting me all worke up)

frown.gif

I can't believe what I've just heard !

A member of the fuzz on our local news program just said "there has been a 50% reduction in fatal casualties, so the figures speak for themselves. some people have claimed that we're just trying to generate revenue, but this could not be further from the truth"

Truth eh... *remembers the guy who said "I once caught a fish THIIIIIIIIIS big" * hmmm do we believe him? Like hell we do.

THEN... one of those computer generated animations came on the screen with a voice adding..."the idea of putting camera's in cats eyes to read the number plates hasn't been ruled out yet"

Blows their case of not trying to hide them to trap motorists out of the water doesn't it.

Jay - (hoping to see a group buy for the new revolution in polarised weapon technology...the Fuzz-Buster Deluxe)

OK what the fuck.

I drive sensible in built up areas. Always have always will - I have kids and know what speeding can do to em frown.gif

But I cannot take my Z into ANY built up area with speed humps. NONE. Not a fucking one. I cannot drive in certain parts of Town because I have a high performance car with a low front end. I drive the bloody thing SLOOOWWWWWWWW in built up areas. I DO NOT want to kill children. I am sensible. I have a low and fast car, and I DO NOT need to be told how to drive it. SO what the fuck happens? I tell you what - Dick Head Max in his powered up Nova flies thru the residential area like a twat out of hell... and me, I go the long way around.. and the Ambulance with the Heart Attack patient onboard.. poor old ambulance over the speed bumps and poor old heart attack patient.

Fuck em all to hell, the MAN aint fit to lick the shit off the wheels of my Zed.

Sorry for the profantity, but this aggreaves me large-time

Glen frown.gif

I think I better take a chill pill frown.gif

Glen - chill man chill..

I agree though entirely.. I don't drive like a tw*t in built up areas - I don't have kids, but I still don't like the thought of hitting one! Hell I hit a fox and that sh1t me up enough!

But I'd quite like to be able to flex my metal muscles down country lanes.. And I'd like the freedom to pick my own cruise speed on motorways (I'm not daft, I stick to under the ton, but 90 would be nice when the weather is good and the roads clear y'know)..

Tell you what, lets all up sticks and move to Germany!

Then again... wink.gif

Oh guyZ, it's a black hole that's sucking us all in! More SPECCS cameras are now up in Brum in the roadworks. Came through on the M6 tonight, loads of the twats. Bearing in mind that I saw 1 on Monday on the way back down!

Nico mate, I live in de Wales(aiiii) and they are going ballistic here at the moment! My Mrs. said they have announced it in the local paper saying that they are having a scurge on Gwynedd.

I saw a T5 stopping some guy in a 6 series Rover tonight on the way back on the A55. My Bro said he saw a T5 on the A55 selling cinema tickets to some poor guy to see himself on Cars In Their Eyes. "tongight Mathew I'm gonna be...nicked for speeding"

Crowd go beserk...

Gay boy Kelley: "Tonight folks, he's gonna be Done for Speeding...give him a big ticket...yeah!"

Can't take much more of this...anyone on here who was in the Falklands or the Gulf(I was!) smuggled an SLR back with a laser sight??? Fucking cameras are starting to jeer at me, nah nah...nahh nahhhhh...you're gonna get nicked!!!!!!!

BASTARDS!
