Oh man FFS! that just takes the piss:confused:

Crazy. Jobsworths FFS. :(

If this country gets any worse there's gonna be anarchy.

and the cost of a life is?...

Parasitic money grabbing bastards.

Tim

No, I agree entirely with Lincolnshire Police and CPS.

The 'ambulance' driver was breaking the law, he disobeyed the rule and should be severely punnished for it. Although he was on a emergency call and had his blue lights flashing there is no excuse whatsoever for breaking the most important rule in British Justice......the speeding law.

I am sure that all the plod and CPS in Lincolnshire can rest easy tonight knowing that this menace will soon be off the roads. I'm sure that if they have any relatives or loved ones dying in screaming agony while waiting for a life-saving transplant, they will have explained that it is reasonable to wait longer (and perhaps even die) so that the FIRST COMMANDMENT of God and Moses - Thou shalt not speed - will be adheared to.

Do we really PAY these festering cock-wounds in the CPS?

But hijack a plane and cost people millions of pounds threaten 156 people with there lives and what happens? ,,.... errm oh yeah you get let of.

TRUE - punishments rarely fit the crimes. The values of this country are evident when monetary crimes are punished more severely than crimes against people.

Vote BNP is what I say - I bet they'd make a few changes ;)

You're right, BIG trouble!! ;)

Bah!!! Lin-COLON-shire CC are bunch of goat blowers IMO:

1. for reasons already stated above, and

2. For charging me £200 in repairs, to a little grey post in the middle of a gravel trap on some hairpin bend several years ago.

On a more serious note, I thought *any* emergency vehicle (with Red n Blues) are allowed to go beyond the speed limit, regardless of whether or not a persons life is at stake? Local plod for example, Ford Fieta rozza car doing 80MPH through a 30 at night? (Which seems to happen regularly up Valley Rd in Ipswich) Life or death, bo11ocks - they've probably got wind from control that somebody has been spotted on a bicycle without a rear reflector!

Berkshire Hunts! :D

Speaking of bikes with no reflectors. Have you heard the new stupid law. All new puch bike MUST have a bell on it.

Hmmmm. When spend £800 of a MOUNTIAN bike I do not want a bell on it and if there was one on it, it would be the first thing to come off.

As for the Ambulance thing. This is why I hate speed camera they dont take anything into account. I am sure if you had some one with like a stab wound in your car and you the police pull you over because you are speeding, I am sure that they will let you go when they understand the situation. Even give you an escort there. But speed camera dont!

My dad was a courier and one day he had to take a kidney from Manchester to London in a frozen pack and had about 8 hours to get it there. As soon as he got into London centre he asked a police check point the best way to the hospital. They actaully blocked all traffic and allowed him to drive the wrong way down the one way system. It took him 5 mins to get there and there was just him on the road. Normally going the right way round and in traffic would have taken hours.

That is how the police should be. In theory Ambulances police cars fire engines which go through red lights and get caught by the camera can be prosicuted, but MOST police have the sence to ignore it.

Stuart

It was about 2am and the road was full of cars not I can not belive this place. eg hello i need a fire engine. were are. I live at site b. well that roads got loads of speedtraps it take us a good hour or so. have you got a garden hose.

sorry had a beer or 2,3,4

jay

I have thought about this and would like to say;

Imagine you are this guy, you get up in the morning to .. well save lives. Go to work and have a hard morning then all hell breaks loose, you got an hour or whatever to save a poor sod who has needs a liver, you pull out all the stops, try your best and save a life.. ever seen liver failure:( :(

Get home and give the missis and kids a hug and think that you have done a good job today.

Next day something lands on the mat. It should be some sort of commendation but it isn't and you don't need commendations - its your job to save lives.

Instead someone has questioned all your actions yesterday and threatened you with heavy handed fines and loss of licence and livelihood.

You sit there aghast wondering why you bothered.

For f|_|cks sake man:(:(

Force Upset at Speeding Comments

Chief Constable Richard Childs said:

"I and every member of Lincolnshire Police are very upset at some of the comments that have made about the intended prosecution of Mr Ferguson, the ambulance driver alleged to have exceeded the speed limit near Grantham. For legal reasons, I cannot explain the prosecution case in detail. That will emerge in court. The result of this case, whatever it is will provide much needed clarification in this area of traffic law.

"Deciding which cases to prosecute and which not to, is a fine balance. Sometimes the decision, whilst the right one technically, may not be the right one in the eyes of the wider community until the broader issues are in the public domain.

"All I can do is to make it very clear that we consider saving life the most important thing we do. To suggest that this case compromises that principle is unfair, deeply hurtful and wrong."

Because proceedings are still 'active' Mr Childs is not prepared to be interviewed on this matter or read or have the statements read to tape.

NOTE TO EDITORS:

1: As the law currently stands, there is no exemption from speed limits for the carriage of blood and human organs. This was specifically excluded from the legislation by those writing the law.

2: The examination of this case in magistrates court may lead to a ‘stated case’ which could in turn lead to a change in the law.

3: The whole issue of law enforcement by its very nature is a complex and sometimes sensitive area which demands a range of judgements and decisions not influenced by emotion.

4: One of the ways that the law can be changed is by it being challenged and re-aligned through stated cases.

This does make some sense, I suppose, but if we didn't have idiot police forces who even consider prosecutions in these sorts of cases, then it would make no difference what the law states.

I am sorry if any of my comments 'upset' them though!

Apparently it was because he was carrying an organ rather than a person.

Although there is a donor patient in Wales willing to pay his legal costs and the chap himself is going to fight it all the way.

Let's hope he gets off! Although it shouldn't have got this far in the first place....
