Had this mail today with an attachment file (unopened)

I am a bit suspicious as it looks like it is from Microsoft and has a reference in the subject line, but I have not requested any help or information form them.

Is it best to just delete without opening the attachment? or is there any way I can see what is in it safely?

Thanks for you help

Jeff TT

Ring Microsofts helpline Jeff. Get them to verify the e-mail.

If it's nothing to do with them they may ask you to forward it to them to look at.

Don't open it without verification.

You could try scanning it with anti-virus software.

Hope this helps

Robin

delete it ASAP, its a new virus/trojan that will spread mail everyone in your contacts, never open attachments from people unless you are expecting it!!

get a virus scanner and update it.

you are safe as long as you havnt opened the attachment,

Jeff,

I saw an article in the paper today about a bogus email, it appears to originate from Microsoft, but it isn't- it contains a virus.

Get rid ASAP!

Dave

Can you infect Zeds through the diagnostic software?

Oh wait, maybe that explains a lot ;)

My car has been infected by Microsoft.

It's unreliable and doesn't work like it's supposed too.

Jeff,

Did you delete it then delete it from your 'recently deleted mail' and any other area's deleted emails go on your system.

It lurks about and must be removed from your system completely!!

I had to delete it from my, inbox, trash, recently deleted email and filing cabinet!

Matty.

I got sent one from mycare@o2.co.uk saying its an automated email saying they are dealing with my request. I have not sent them anything and they dont have my email address.

A good thing to do is disable the preview panel in outlook (if using it) and you can even turn off the html feature

this makes you alot safer against email viruses
