Dodgy Electrics

OK, my car was imported with one of those crap radios that won't tune above 90MHz, So last night I decided that I'd have a look at the job at hand. I looked around on some of your loverly sites and found how to get the centre console cover off.

Everything going to plan... SMEG!! What the hell kinda connector is that on the back!! So I put everything back as I should have and everything appears OK. Until I get up in the morning and now the clock isn't working, the intermittent wipe on the front isn't working and the rear washers and wiper is goosed.

So I naturally assumed I'd touched something or not put something back quite right. So I take everything apart again and poke around, I find a couple of wires that look like they have come apart. (Brown connectors under the dash). So I connected it and heard a sort of crack like either a fuse popping or relay clicking dunno which. Still nothing working with any of the broken systems. After this I thought oh bugger it I'll look at weekend, but NAY NAY and thrise NAY my Zed has other things in mind for me tonight - couldn't get the F*£KING KEYS OUT NOW COULD I. (Told my bird all of this and she pissed herself) I had to take the whole driving column cowling off to find that the little button to release the key had locked. I unlocked it and put everything back. But now I'm scared!! :confused:

I have to say that the clock did go off for a few days before and it came back on by itself - and during that time it may not have rained (yeah right I live nr Manchester :D )

Anyone else had this problem - I'm more concerned about the wipers than the clock.

Cheers for the help

Rod

PS I have done some searches to try to sort this without asking obvious questions again

The clocks are very intermittent, work when they feel like it so i wouldnt let that worry you.

And this bit i think you will kick yourself for;

Im guessing youve got an auto, and that you put it into 1 or 2 to get the dash bits out then left it in 1 or 2 and tried to get the key out, and autos oly let you take the key out in park!!!! Thus you took the ignition apart for nothing sorry!!!

As for the stereo connector you neeed a Nissan to ISO connector to put a normal head unit in you can get these from most good stereo shops (even halfords too!!) Failing that mail me your address and i can send you one as ive got a spare as i bought a new one as i thought mine was buggered, but it turned out to be the foglights stopping the radio working!!!
