Does anyone know how I can get engine oil, which has been leaking out for a while, off a tarmac drive!!

My missus is not to impressed with the nice patch it has left!

I've tried loads of washing up liquid and hot water and a good stiff brushing ( oooh missus!!) but that doesn't work!

Any ideas?

Cheers,

F.T.

Engine cleaner works a treat and some companys do specialize in the stuff.its a concrete based sand. (have no idea where youd get it though)

When my rear seal went and left a damn great slick I used a high pressure washer along with the power washer detergent stuff from B&Q. Worked a treat.

Just got to do the same on the other side of the drive to remove the power steering fluid from the wifes Honda Accord. When the Zed dies I'm getting an NSX. 400 miles on a trip to Germany without any power steering fluid and the whole power steering system survived unscathed. We couldn't believe it when the garage in Germany found it was completely empty.

Maybe but parts are a bit of a shocker, £500 for a windscreen wiper motor, £1500 for a basic service, £300 each for brake discs and very few around so less chance of alternative suppliers, plus Honda use unique part numbers for each car, so it's extremely difficult to tell whether you can buy a cheaper part for an Accord or whatever, unless you have both parts in your hand at the same time.

I've used 'Gunk Driveway' before and that did quite a good job !

Didn't totally remove the stain but then it was a really old/soaked in oil patch.

Cost about a fiver from Motor World.

Did you mean to post this on a different thread Andy ? :)

Incidentally; the clock's in the post - cheers mate !

Doh ! where did Honda post come from - didn't see that ! :D :o

Tony,

Be careful. Some stuff is not designed for tarmac and will start to dissolve the surface if youre not careful. That will annoy the missus even more!

I pretend to work, they pretend to pay me!

Got to have a pressure washer if you keep a Z :D. I bought mine especially for the job.

Konrad,

AndyP was talking about the Honda as in NSX, which posidrive mentioned he was getting after the Z dies.

Yeah, realised that after I sent it and reread the thread - hence the Doh when I edited it !

Memo to self - Engage brain before mouth ! :D

Petrol will get it up.

It will also rip up an inch of tarmac too ;)

Stuart

I tried the neighbours pressure washer and that decided to take some of the tarmac with it!

Anyway thanks for all the advice guys.:D :D

Cheers,

I was told that cat tray litter stuff would clean it up.

Vijay

No cat litter is good for when you have a puddle of it or its leaking. Its soaks it up when it touched it but its not good for getting oil that is soaked into the tarmac.

Stuart

That GUNK stuff is quite good I used it but the oil was fairly fresh, so would probably have come off with a jet was.

My dad tried to jetwash his oil patches - ended up with nice bald patches of tarmac :D

We too have holes in our drive where the old man gives it an over zealous hosing trying to remove oil patches left from a variety of cars!!

Tried gunk once......made an even bigger hole!
