ok, so the time has come for induction and exhausts, sorted induction already - need pipes. I want to keep the cats, so can anyone give advice on a nice set of rear pipes, i want to keep the quad look at the back 2x2 pipes, but would like something with a LITTLE more sound NOT max power stylee!! Also i will eventually get the rear bumper from zcentre fitted, so what will fit, more importantly, what unit do you recommend, plenty out there, but its starting to hurt when looking!!

OR can anyone convince me of the benefits of removing cats and forever worrying about turbo seals going pop - i do drive her hard:D :D

Get rid o them cats! What's the point in get an exhaust which does away with all the restrictors and leaving one big one right at the front? Mine has a bit of smoke only the first time it is booted every day but then the pipe is cleared and fine.

I have Blitz exhaust but only has 1 drain pipe each side. Alot of people on here go for the Mongoose for the same reasons as you.

I went for the Mongoose option, which I actually got from the Zcentre.

You keep the quad look, although they are slightly larger than the standard ones, certainly not Max Power stylee though ;)

The sound is great; at low revs/speeds they're not much louder than the standard ones, although a fair bit deeper. Under full throttle they sound fantastic :D

Another good thing about them is the fittings are the same as standard so you can keep the cats or not; whatever you choose.

Personally I'd bin the cats immediately though - you free up about 15 horses apparently and get rid of the foul stench to boot !

If you do decide to decat i've got these nice pipes, i bought them trying to diagnose a problem but don't need them anymore. They've had about 1/2hr's use.

i too have the Mongoose sys.

kept the cats for the same reason you want too, dont want to risk the tubs going, when i can afford a pair of hybrids ill bin em :D

I got a small clip which I sent to DaveW to show him the difference in sound with a Mongoose between with cats and Decatted.

If you want I can send it you, when I finish work, so you can hear the sound difference between the 2.

Hi Vicky,

I'm getting zorsts sorted out by Predator Motorsports in Welwyn Garden City where I live. I've still got to decide on if to decat or not - I looked through all the threads on the forum - but I'm having same diameter pipes as OEM with twins on rear in 3 1/2" pipes. The guy from Predator has a ZX so he has an idea on whats what. Also someone else from the forum has used him and thought highly of his work.

Its going in in June for the work.

Geoff.

Phone Johnny at GPS, the guy who makes his systems can do any tailpipe you want, and with / without centre boxes etc.

Got one on mine and well chuffed with it build quality was v. good and sounds lovely. Cheap too!

I also have a Mongoose system, and kept the cats for the same reason as above. I did notice a difference in performance mainly in bottom end power. Is slightly quicker on pull away. Konrad was quite correct in the sound difference, the V6 lump roars when you give it some boot!.

I installed an Apexi filter up front. No real power difference although mid range was slightly improved

Vickey, I see your in Hampshire. Whereabouts?, if your relatively close to me then your more than welcome to come and see & hear my zed?.

Tony

Stuart, can you send me the clip as well puleeze ? I have mongoose. Always wondered what it would sound like with no cats.
