errm yeah the Fastest - the most durable racing unit - the GTP championship - ect ect ect :D

Thanks, Paul - I always like looking at that Jun 300ZX. Now, correct me if I'm wrong but is it not only a manual but also still after all these years quicker than the Jun Poopras, Skylines and all the other cars they tried to break the record with since then?

yup - record still stands in the zed :D (manual btw, did we mention that?? LOL!! :D )

Well I'm auto - that was the car I viewed. Also at the time I read reviews of the trouble with manual gear boxes. since then I realise that both can give trouble.

I've driven a manual on trial and I must admit it is more fun. But for being stuck in London traffic you can't beat an Auto. Also I like the kick down use - especially on the outside lane on a motorway when I can kick the boll**ks off some other w**kers!!!!

Must admit, after having both I prefer the Manual box but sometimes the synchromesh lets you down!

All in all though, the manual 300Z TT definately feels quicker, I noticed the difference straight away after converting from Auto to Manual ;) .

Looking at the results manuals are becoming common , who wants to follow the crowd anyway

At this rate auto's will be a rarity and sought after pushing the price up :p keep converting people :D

It's all about the driving experience and the control over the car. I like to drive the car, so I decide when the gear is to change and not when the autobox decides to kick in. It's about feeling at one with the car.

On the upside, You always get caught in traffic on the motorways, well I seem to anyway and I wouldn't wan't to be without an auto on those occasions. I used to drive a Jag xjs and that was an auto. Stuck on the M25 crawling along for 4 hrs wasn't too bad.

Personally I like the manual.

To the manual boys (and girls):-

Do you tell the injectors how much and when to squirt fuel into the cylinders?

Do you tell each of your spark plugs when to fire?

Do you actuate the wastegate yourself?

Do you tell the HICAS rear wheels how much to turn?

Injectors: Yeah, that's what the throttle does (via EMC and S-AFC admittedly.)

Wastegate: Yeah, that's what changing settings on the AVC-R does.

HICAS: Yeah, that's what the steering wheel does.

That leaves spark plugs... but then I don't have to change gear 7000 times a minute!

Does your "auto" select an appropriate ratio for delivering torque to the wheels depending on the current road situation? No, it's always too high or too low, because you've only got four ratios to choose from!

Yeah and manuals are better cos they have five ratios? Joker!

Anyways, with lock-in, autos have more selection than manuals!

BTW, I will be converting to manual early next year (thanks Jeff) because I think my auto is on its way out and I hear manual boxes last longer. I will miss the auto though. Somehow my car feels happier with the auto box than the manual I test drove.

S'true! I agree there comes a point where continually shifting gear becomes counterproductive, but at least you can choose to do so or not. It's not the -only- reason they're better, but it's a major one. Four ratios ain't a lot spread over 160+mph.

Yer what? Lock-in as in you press the "hold" button? Or are you talking lock-up on the torque converter? Either way, don't see how it helps...

PMSL you lot crack me up - at least if you're gonna argue about something then GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT! ;)

Its when the auto is NOT in TC lockup mode that you get infinate gears.

However this is a shit excuse so doesn't count :p:D

If you look on courtsey's site, how come they only do MANUAL boxes? Wonder if its cos no one is stooopid enough to replace an auto box? :D

Maybe they only do manual boxes Andy cos those are the ones that go wrong most often!!!:D  :D :D

I pretend to work, they pretend to pay me!

LOL Yeah Andy, ha! :D:D

I challenge any manual with similar power to one 1/4 mile race (in a straight line) ;)

Infinite gears my left foot (appropriately enough ;) )

I could drive my manual round with the clutch just on bite point so it slips and gets really really hot whenever I'm under 4k revs - if I was totally unhinged. Oh wait, that's what torque converters do...

Unless you're selling an aftermarket CVT... in which case, gimme! LOL
